It's not about whether you can. What makes a branch swinger is actually doing it. I can. I chose not to. Though I've met plenty on male branch swingers.

Really, branch swinging comes from a place of insecurity. If you aren't insecure, you break up when things aren't working, regardless of whether or not you've found someone else.

what really stops? nothing... none if forced to do anything.

I have no idea if they do or not ask for divorce or equivalent but I presume if I was in the top 20% in finance, status, and looks (characterizing an alpha) and I was 50+ I would want to commit, I would be too old to continue to look for women, it would be a pain in the arse.

Not quite.
On the way we call women branch swingers, we're not-committers.

When the guy COMMITS, he loses a good deal of his potential to be sexually fulfilled, because he can no longer enact monogamy. If his partner loses some of her looks, he's not loosing much further. What fucks her up is if she changes into someone quite different form the woman he committed to, for starters.
So to answer that question, they won't leave IF they were not stupid upon committing for starters and their partners tipped the balance towards committing through other means and manage to maintain it tipped despite the leaks, with the only inevitable leak being on "looks".

When chicks commit they give away CHOICE, and only that. Every new guy can get her to double guess the decision.
