It's the same here in the Netherlands.

A lot of men on PPD seem to be arguing things from a very American perspective, where there's an expectation for men to do all the asking out, paying for dates, and buttering women up so sex might happen.

There's also a very Puritan adherence to "purity culture" and stuff like that.

The Red Pill and the manosphere in general are mostly American phenomenons, some of the problems Americans complain here don’t exist in Europe or other parts of the world, destroying their whole argument about the nature of women.

Central Europe, a similar experience. Outside religious circles, no one really judge the past of women or men as long as they were not sex workers.

On the other hand, as a young single, I experienced activity from women interested in sex quite normally. Yes, more activity is on men, but it is not unheard of for a woman herself to actively want sex, say so or take steps to have it with a man.

Likewise, it is quite normal for a woman to pay half for a date. Men pay more often, but it is not a fixed norm.

The obsession with sexual purity or virginity of women that I read about on PPD from some US men is strange to me.

Like, why? It's as if he resents women who already wear earrings and wants to pierce their ears personally. To be the first one she wears earrings with. But there is nothing extra nice about getting your ears pierced. It's bloody and unpleasant. The desire to have a virgin in bed seems like some kind of fetish that I just don't understand.

So she’s allowed to have sex on a first date, and I’m allowed to decide that I don’t want to marry her.

His hypocrisy and double standards are baffling to me.

I can hardly take any more of this "double standard" talk of this sub. EVERY DAY, multiple threads are started whining over how different standards apply to women and men. YES. Women and men are different, follow different sexual selection strategies and therefore behave and value things differently. It's NOT a double standard, because you are not comparing two subjects from the same population, with regard to the topic. If a man judged another man for behavior negatively that he judges himself positively for, THAT would be a double standard.

How are you baffled by the guy then, if you really believe what you just said? He must be allowed to follow his heart and deem those women as not relationship material as well, right? He is not telling women they can't sleep with men on the first date. He just doesn't see them as right for him, when he looks for relationship material.

Where is the hypocrisy? He's not committing to the women he slept early with, so he kept his words.

Double standards? Probably. I also bet that none of these women approached him and he had to do all the work up to sex, so why do you take offense in him having double standards exactly? Are you just discovering that men and women are different, and that even if your so called "women are treated equally here" nobody is actually being treated equal socially?

I live in Berlin and the culture here is quite dynamic and open to all sorts of things. Women are treated equally here and no bashed for their choices.

As far as I know german women are extremely picky and still expect a lot of gender roles from men. Now this is hypocrisy.

Being treated equally doesn't mean a man has to commit to you because you said so.

This morning I came across a comment in Reddit thread, basically saying that "women who have sex on first date are not relationship material" Also, that guy had literally slept with most of his first dates. So by that standard even he is not a ideal relationship partner. His hypocrisy is baffling to me.

Not really this isn't actually hypocrisy , he is not saying he is relationship material , if women don't want to date them that's fine by them , but he has his own standards , also sleeping with someone on the first date does not mean you want to be in a relationship with them, If I had several dates with a woman and I paid for all the dates and then she decided its not going to work out , should I force her to date me or ask her to refund me for all the times she dated me or should I move on

A man saying a woman isn't relationship material for him or anyone is not prescribing a lack of value useless you believe his judgment determines her worth then okay

This also applies every where ,the problem you see this standard as bashing , when it's simply a standard , I can have sex and jerk off with a prostitute this does not mean she is dating material or that I should date her , the assumption is that you see him claiming this as a general standard not his standard , and you also see this standard as something he shouldn't have but who are you to say that
