Is Anyone Modding This Sub Anymore?

Can I be honest? I don't read this sub anymore. I check the report queue and the modmail every hour or so, maybe every 4 or 5 hours on a busy day. I deal with all reports and modmail as diligently as possible and with as little bias as possible.

After moderating this sub for a while, you get tired of all the fuckwads that post here. If there's anything that moderating this sub has taught me, it is that there are fuckwads among those with every background, every personal philosophy, every ideology. These people seemly live to harass those around them in an attempt to make others' lives as miserable and depressing as their own. I won't let these fuckwads do that to me, so I limit my time here.

But you know what? Every one else that ever moderates this sub will have the same experience. The latest wave of mods said the same thing after they were added a few months ago. It's really inevitable.

To address a few common concerns in this thread:

Re: Passive Aggressiveness

Please report, and if you are concerned we might not get the nuance, then PM us. Mods may miss comments here and there especially if they're not being reported. Keep in mind that people are posting from all over the world. "Bless her heart" might be a non-issue to someone from Europe or Asia, but for an American Southerner, it may be an obvious slight. There also may be contextual insults between two individuals, not cultural at all.

We're not omniscient and won't a lot of the context behind perceived slights. Let us know your thoughts instead of giving abstract complaints about how mods aren't doing exactly what you expect them to.

Some members will refuse to report as they actually want insults to be out in the open to be seen (possibly because those insults discredit the person throwing them). One of the commenters here admitted to exactly that! If no one cares about a specific comment enough to report it, then you shouldn't expect the mods to care either, except for the most egregious cases.

Re: Mod bias

We have frequently gotten complaints from both rpers and bpers about mod bias. Some of the same individuals who complain about mod bias are the ones being defended behind the scenes from multiple insults... insults that are regularly hurled at them for their own provocative natures.

I can't claim that there is no bias at all, because in my personal opinion, "fairness" is an illusion. There will always be some imbalance or loopholes/technicalities in an existing system for aware individuals to exploit. That says more about the "fuckwads" as CFRP calls them than it does about mod teams in general.

I can say this though. There's no conspiracy or deliberate bias by mods as a team. Members who PM the mods about their concerns are PMed back with comprehensive responses explaining our decisions. They are allowed to make their points fairly. If you haven't PMed us at all with your concerns, then don't claim to know our thoughts and intentions.

Re: Mod inactivity

Mods are generally active. Even during Thanksgiving Weekend, where a lot of us were busy, the longest stretch of inactivity was 11 hours. This isn't a full-time job for us. While that isn't an excuse, it's a call for some consideration.

Consider the hypothetical fuckwad who has nothing better to do than screw with all of us whenever possible. He or she will post a thread like, "How do red pill men feel about their mothers being slutty whores like all women are?" It will slip by for an hour or two and someone will be bound to see it before the mods remove it. Nothing here is out of the ordinary.

Oh cut the bullshit. Mods are fair, and they don't mod instantly. This thread "How do redpill men feel about blah blah" is up for the past 20 minutes, and it is impossible and really unrealistic to have something moderated instantly, especially since this is a relatively slow sub. As for BP personal attacks, holy crap, if you cannot take some snark and ridicule it, then why are you even here? Personal attacks with snide language and fake endearment are tolerated, as they should be.

EDIT : Perhaps I should clarify. I do not consider snide language and fake endearment a personal attack. But if mods insist/folks don't like it, then yeah, it should be enforced. But this is BP who you're arguing against, there's no around snark.

I think that the problem is that the mods don't recognize nuance. They don't understand how women and TBP do personal attacks. They use snide language and little fake endearments like "dear" when they talk down to us. For some reason, if a person doesn't come right out and say "fuck you" then it isn't a personal attack.

I always though the mods did a decent job, and never got appreciation for it.

I never used to report, but I guess I should if we all want a higher level of discussion.

It doesn't matter. I'd rather their supreme level of ineffectiveness be on display for all. I never report anything anymore, it's just too hilarious to see them get beat down so badly by which ever red piller is in the mood.

I'm ok with this devolving into a BP-trolling-RP forum, because the Blue Pillers are not actual debate opponents, they are trolls. So there's no point in this anyway.

I'm glad the young Red Pill guys get to see that their "opponents" seek out rape/abuse/misogyny/sexism because it turns them on. TBP spends all day reading TRP hoping to find "rapey" stories because they get off on it.

In fact, if TRP would ramp up the sexism/misogyny, they would get even more women readers.

I want the young red pill boys to understand this. It's the key to understanding women.

Because I used to be much, much worse. Now I don't call people names, or if I do I choose words that are very childish to convey my overall harmless intentions. I've found more creative ways to make fun of TRP, but when I do I'm also striving to make a point. Because I like to play rough, I will also accept rougher, more aggressive language from others as well. It's only fair. I guess I've always been one of those kids that wouldn't tattle on other kids on the playground. I can handle myself around others, I don't need a mod to come to my rescue. If someone's being offensive, I can deal with them myself. I'm not impressed by those who are overly reliant on authority figures to solve their issues. I think it's rather pathetic and extremely juvenile.

I think what a lot of people don't like about me is my tone: I can sound superior and very mocking, it's true. And I sound that way because I'm confronting people who do not think I am a person like they are a person and that angers me. You can police my word choice, but you can't police my tone. To police my tone is to police my thoughts and my honest reactions, is that what you really want to do?

I also stay away from more serious debates and focus my energies on casual discussions, that way my antics don't get in the way of impartial, constructive discussion. I use this approach with all of reddit, in fact.

I like PPD because it's not as awful as TRP, but it's still low-brow enough for me to be comfortable and have fun. I also grew up on 4chan, and I believe that great discussions really come about when we all endure one another's shittiness. To experience the best people have to offer, you have to endure their shit to a degree. If you want to make this place not only civil, but nice, then I'll have to leave for good.

Because a lot of fucked up, dehumanizing beliefs are concealed in a nice tone and I'd rather point that out and make fun of it than be forced to condone and humor it.

Quite honestly, I like it here, but I just wish I could avoid seeing the comments by certain individuals because after months I still have not seen them post anything worth reading.

I enjoy reading reasoned BP arguments that make me think or if they say something funny.

Based on what I've seen recently, no.

The mods are extremely lenient with their rules. I've seen multiple personal attacks from both sides, without any mod comments addressing them.

Right now there is a thread titled "How do red pill men feel about their mothers being slutty whores like all women are?" Questions like that are loaded and although masquerade as a legitimate question, they contain snark and are phrased in a manner to push TRP members' buttons.

The mods have a BP bias and are unwilling to moderate fairly.
