I'm assuming your being sarcastic. I didn't make any reference to evolutionary psychology. Doing scientific research is incredibly difficult on social subjects like this because they hinge on self reported surveys which are extremely unreliable.

But the notion that having women interested in you elevates you status with other women is hardly controversial. Who wants a man no one else wants? You think the 3000+ women Gene Simmons has slept with did so because of his looks or did fame play a role?

As far as some women being attracted to men who break the rules, how do you explain the women who propose to murderers in prison (bonnie and clyde syndrome, yeah its real Google it), or those who write convicts in general? Or the sexualization of the MMA fighters or boxers?

Again, I can't point you to any one definitive study. But anecdotal evidence I've got tons. I've known women who've bragged there bf was the biggest drug dealer, the meanest thug etc. Fuck, watch Gangland on the history channel or like any documentary on the hells angels or a reddit thread on what life is like in a street gang. You think those guys are hurting for girls? Or if you want a little science look up, "misattriburion of arousal"

For my own part when I was younger I shoplifted to impress girls. Worked like a charm. In fairness some of this works for girls too. The girl who smokes behind the school and doesn't give a Fuck is a thousand times hotter. Also mistresses and prostitutes have there own allure.

Lol okay this is the second time somebody assumed i was being sarcastic today. To be clear, I wasn't being sarcastic. I really do study evo psych, and really did read that data. lol i guess i need to start proof reading for sarcasm. ^{_^} I guess it came off sarcastic when I sort of just conceded (redditors are not really known for easily conceding anything lol). I just didn't really look at it in a broad sense like you did. I do agree with this generalization:

The idea that your so desirable a woman would cheat to be with you could be a turn on. Also some girls like guys that don't "follow the rules".

What I meant eariler was that I wasn't sure how he said he broke up a marriage in a way that sounded okay. It was more semantics that I was talking about. I'm still not sure how one brings that up harmlessly.

okay, now I'm going to read this long response. I'm assuming its going to be fairly irrelevant based on that it was prefaced with a misunderstanding, but I'll go on.

While I agree it's difficult to research, studies can be done through highly thought-out and well-controlled tests. To many people's surprise, our behavior (ESPECIALLY mating behavior) is actually highly predictable in a more or less broad sense. The troubles mostly set in for psych research as the scope gets too small. Its not a perfect science, but the topics taught to students generally tend to be the more reputable and solid ones. Of these is mating strategies between men and women, an area with significant research and data. All in all, it's safe to trust psych when talking about our contextual topic.

lol again see above: misunderstanding. I agree. I've actually made a few people uncomfortable talking about this phenomenon in person. I made a really crude joke about how despite how appalling the UCSB shooter's views were, its safe to say that there is at least one girl out there blasting her clam with the shower head to the thought of him. I cited the case where the serial killer "The NightStalker" had like 7 girlfriends while in jail, but to no avail. The joke was actually well crafted and would work in my stand-up routine, but crude/shock humor definitely works better on a stage than in normal conversation. lol sorry I'm rambling. back to the point.

The was a recent study, I think out of Japan, that showed men can and do develop strong emotional bonds with prostitutes they frequent. Some men have been known to buy expensive gifts for pros above and beyond what was required for sex. And the most common sex act requested is the "girlfriend experience". I just meant though through there profession they have a certain power a certain allure. A bad girl effect. Maybe a damsel in distress for some. Actually men who try to save hookers are called captain save a hoes.

Some of this bluepill stuff just kills me. They act like people make mating choices purely out of logic and reason and the kinder and sweeter you are the more you'll get laid. Perish the thought a woman would ever sexually reward sexist or condescending or brutish or demanding or even abusive behavior. Your a misogynist for even suggesting so.

One of the things that really bothered me was the bluepill thinking on the friendzone. Like well she's not attracted to you, you can't force it, don't hate on the men she's with. Attractions either there or it isn't. Blah Blah Blah bullshit. They act like if you've been rejected its entirely based on your looks and your ugly so just accept it. But they never talk about why your ugly. Or even if they try its never cause you've been too nice or too accommodating. That's just you rationalizing. And they never ever say you can get a woman's interest by treating her worse (although no one can seem to agree on what worse is). Personally I think context matters a lot. Particularly for female attraction. That's the kicker, you looking how you look now (which is what most people mean when they say attractiveness) can get completely different women depending on how act. I'm not saying behavior trumps looks but it sure as shit can sink you. And not all traits women reward are traits they would list ad positive on a self survey.

One of the most interesting things that got me thinking about this is "alien hand syndrome". You should look it up.

The girlfriend experience probably roots in men having a desire for companionship. When men are young, they report low interest in committed relationships, but as they get older it goes higher and higher. the men that frequent prostitutes are likely to be older and have the money to pay for it.

Ah, I doubt you are getting a convert, lmao, sorry. For all the stuff I have seen on TRP that is valid (yes, there is some stuff), I can't see myself following it in any capacity because it doesn't reflect the type of person I am. I guess, my thing is that I rarely feel anger, if ever, I have no reason to be bitter, only reason to forgive and grow as an individual. I am a shameless idealist, and that is the way I intend to be. That said, I respect that you seem to have your head on straight, it's just a small ideological difference that is completely fair.

Edit: To expand a bit, I see the world through my own unique lens. I have been through a shitstorm in the past, and I know how brutal the world can be, but I am an eternal optimist for a reason. I call people on their shit, but I also want to trust and forgive people, motivating them to bring out the best qualities that they have. It does make a good point though, so props for that.

That's fair. Everybody has their own viewpoints, and I respect that. I honestly wasn't trying to convert you, I just want to do my part in correcting the wide misconceptions of TRP. I don't even agree to much with much of what is said by the members, as I don't relate to the accusatory claims, bitterness, and traditionalism held by many. I just tolerate that stuff because I know those bitter people are just newer members that are jsut waking up and just seeing how their lives were lies. Contrary to populat belief, it's not really women's fault , its just that our society raises people to think that the world works one way, but it actaully works another. hence, people feel slighted and are angry about it. I'm slowly getting annoyed at TRP comments these days because of how bad it makes us all look. All that is valid is overshadowed by idiotic comments. Uugh.

I am a bit of a hopeless romantic actually, and I mean, it is what it is. There are double standards, and it bugs me, but the way to deal with it isn't to express outrage at all, but to develop who you are and be forgiving, kind, ambitious, loving, and all the other qualities that make humanity amazing. I mean, honestly, like, I got cheated on kinda recently, it sucked, but I didn't get mad, I had no reason to feel hatred or outrage. I was definitely mad, but I credit my ability to stay calm as the reason that I handled things so well. I have heard from a couple people that I am on a higher plane than everyone else, that I transcend humanity almost. I mean, I know it's crazy, but I think anyone that knows how to stay unbelievably calm is probably better off than the person that gets mad. Calm trumps chaos and outrage any day after all. /rant

Hope that makes sense man. It's like, yea, shit happens, people get hurt, but the best way to respond is to turn it into a reason to be a better human being.

Edit: I guess, I am confident enough in myself and my judgment of character that I am not paranoid about people hurting me either. I admit, I probably sound a little crazy, lmao, but I mean, I hope I am clear.
