I propose that female hypergamy during dating is a good thing and that men should appreciate and encourage it.

I also believe that hypergamy is required for most of TRP's theories to remain plausible. One of the tenets of TRP is that a man should seek a woman that has burning desire for him-- that those are the women worthy of consideration for LTR or marriage. That can't happen without hypergamy.

A woman that has burning desire for a man, has found someone who she admires, respects, is sexually attracted to, and for whom she wishes to put in real effort in a relationship. If all elements are present, her hypergamy engine will be slowed to idle if not completely powered off.

A woman who does not have burning desire for her male partner, will slowly lose affection for him, will use and abuse him for his resources, will try to inject some joy by having children, but likely still end up bored, weaponize sex, dead bedroom, cheat, or divorce him anyway. During such a relationship, her hypergamy engine will remain in full force, creating resentment and jealousy that will erode the bond.

On the surface, hypergamy seems bad for men, but it serves the purpose of creating the happiest relationships.

Have you, as a man, ever been in a relationship where the woman really wants you? It is night and day compared to dating up or even dating your equal. Life becomes relaxed and hypersexual. She gives you her best. The opposite brings stress, antagonizing interactions, aggressiveness, competition, higher potential for arguments, etc.

The trick to achieving this, is for men to remain in their "lane" and interact only with women whose eyes light up in their presence. The sure sign that a man has the wrong woman is when he has to convince, persuade, win over, put on a pedestal, perform, forgo his own desires, or otherwise appease her around every corner. That is miserable.

Women should keep shooting for the best they can find. But they shouldn't try to reform or hope that a man will become what they want in the future. Women should leave men alone for whom they don't feel burning desire. There will undoubtedly be a different woman who will appreciate him as he is.

tl;dr - Men should date down. Let hypergamy do its magic and there will be happier relationships.
