So this idea came to us from a number of [anonymous] users. I asked them to organize it themselves, but I promised them the mods would host it. So here we go...

This is the official voting thread for the first ever PPD "Movie Night!" Essentially: in this thread, we will pick a movie to discuss, and after we have chosen one, we'll start another thread to discuss it. This way, we can have a debate that starts in a relatively neutral way, and hopefully have a bit more fun with it.

The ideal movie should:

  • Be something we've all seen, so everybody can participate, and nobody has to go watch a new movie.
  • Bear some relation to TRP or other ideas relevant to this sub.
  • Not be too obvious or one-sided in and of itself, but leave room for interpretation and discussion.
  • Be a good movie, because if it's bad, then discussing what it means is pretty pointless, right?

Voting will work as follows:

  • The thread is in contest mode. This means you can't see how other people are voting, so that doesn't influence your voting.
  • Voting in this thread will stay open for one week.
  • We know it's not perfect, but the winner at the end of this thread will simply be the post with the highest vote count. In the event of a tie, a mod will use a random number generator to pick the winner.

We will then make a thread in which to discuss the winner, hopefully in a neutral, constructive, and respectful way.
