Question to TBP: Pickup has an array of techniques, but you say they're all bad instead of judging each on it's merits. why?

Most of the techniques that are acceptable are just things normal human beings do. Go outside, talk to women instead of being a coward, joke with them, express your interest, etc.

Normal people aren't going to praise normal behavior, it's a baseline for the majority of humans.

I don't have a problem with pickup techniques as they are independent of how a man actually feels about women. There are plenty of guys who use them that actually like women, while there are also plenty who don't like them. I don't think using a pickup line is harmful and really hurts anybody in the long run, either, even if it's something like negging. In my opinion, The Red Pill is much worse than PUA because it has taken something relatively benign like self-improvement and pickup techniques and warped them into a misogynist philosophy that stereotypes all women into inferior beings.

I've read up pretty extensively on PUA techniques, partially because I find social manipulation fascinating. I don't see anything wrong with it.

By all means, try to get laid. Just don't lie about your motives, and for God's sake, take "no" as your answer if that's what you get. Beyond that, have at it.

The problem isn't with specific techniques; the problem is that your trying to formalize something that can't and shouldn't be formalized. Human relationships, whether friendship, ons, dating, whatever, develop organically, and are unique; PuA is trying to essentially create a one-size-fits all method for developing things that fundamentally can't be one-size-fits-all, and the end result is that it just comes off as inauthentic and forced, two features of an unhealthy relationship.

My beef with PUA is exactly the same as my beef with TRP - the "improvement" angle is not that you are eager to share your new-found confidence in yourself with other people, it's that you are bitterly driven to use a facade you've developed to get what you want, like the rest of these people owe you something for just how much you've "suffered".

PUAs have a bad reputation because of negging. I personally don't think there's something inherently wrong with them .
