Why are posts and comments about match rates on OLD are not allowed on other dating subreddits?

The main subreddits don't like talking about anything controversial to reddit's basement-dwelling powermods. Subs also ban things that draw lots of attention and anger, but don't do anything along the sub's goals. The OLD subreddits are for talking about specific OLD apps and profiles. If you aren't pretty enough to use it, that's not the place to complain about it.

There's a good faith, steel-manned way of articulating the case for enhanced moderation of certain topics. I'm sure someone else will try to make that case, but I don't care to. I'll just offer my best good faith counterargument: Let people ask questions, let people talk. If someone says something that's actually toxic or incendiary, kick them then. But just having vast ideological no-go areas is shortsighted and counterproductive.

The blunt answer is that reddit just doesn't want to deal with it. I believe there are two reasons for this.

The first thing you ought to consider is that talking about how men have a very low match rate on these subs is likely to drive off potential users. If the mods of that sub are in any way affiliated with the app, they're not gonna let that fly.

The second reason is that there are some viewpoints reddit just isn't going to accept . Men posted their online data stats on dataisbeautiful, and the results showed them swiping thousands of times for a chance at a single date. Now, you can't post online dating stats on that subreddit. The reality is that discussing how dating in general is fairly brutal for a lot of men whereas women have it much easier is just seen as a no-go. You aren't supposed to say that, so they won't let you say that.

Let’s say all your stats are 100% accurate. How will people acknowledging it change anything? Men will be men and women will be women. There is no point in getting upset about the match rate, nothing will change. Everyone wants to be with someone they are attracted to.

What does discussing match rates do for conversation? All it does is devolve into a men against women thing like exists around here. Most places don't want to deal with that negative bullshit.

r/hinge is set to private but r/bumble is clearly a place with a very specific sort of community. That is to say theres a culture of forced positivity where the pinned thread is on advice on improving your profile and a very large portion of users are asking for that in seperate threads.

There's a fantasy that sub is selling that you're one new picture or new bio away from getting a bunch of matches and things finally eill work for you and a large part of its user engagement comes from selling this idea. If you showed them the numbers it would become much more obvious how steep the odds are and user engagement would drop, because that shb requires that its userbase of mostly frustrated men believe things are fair and the problem is with them as an individual, even as they see dozens of others do it at once.

Top 20% men are not on OLD in my admittedly limited experience. If you see someone impossibly handsome on OLD, he's scamming or selling something.
