Memetic desire. Most men want to impress other men. Attracting a woman is like fishing, you get one to impress other men and have a hmfew holes to masturbate into. Oddly enough showing you good at catching stuff doesnt work on fish or women its only good bait to attract other men. Youd think a good fisherman would know to use the right lure but the right lure requires putting themselves on the line but aghast that is too much!

They are probably getting defensive, because they are not used to this cultural objectification of the male appearance. Historically, men have been "success objects", which is a big hassle in itself. But now, we are also expected to be "sex objects" given that women can choose for genes rather than resources (ex - the rise of the pretty boy on tik tok).

Frankly as a man, I don't like having to spend extra time on my photos when I'm already doing all kinds of extra work. But, I'm not one of the super special men at the far right end of the bell curve, so I am by definition average - which means if I want a quality partner, I have to work much harder to be in the above average range.

If that means I have to take better photos, then I guess I have to.

Male deers probably don't like the extra effort of growing heavy horns, but this is what competition requires. Humans are technically smart enough to change the rules of competition to make life easier, but the masses are a force in themselves. So, competition is required.

We gotta take better photos or drop out of this game (both valid options).

Because Tinder is inherently harder for men to use successfully, this sort of picture critique, especially about hunting or fishing photos, shows a lack of respect for and understanding of quintessentially masculine hobbies, attributions the difficulties men have on Tinder to garden variety dude pictures is off base and kinda blasé and mean, given we know Tinder has more male users than female and algorithms may ensure most of your swipes don't even see your profile, and lastly?

... because criticizing basic chick shit like astrology, annoying and unnecessary comments about how some random broad is just on their to waste you time or because she's bored, no hookups, (insert generic chick side pose photo here), etc. would almost assuredly make you come off like an asshole in mixed company, even though such cliches are, in my experience, completely irrelevant to how a match will turn out. Furthermore, every dude who's dated to at least a moderate degree knows they'll have to feign an unreciprocated interest if the gal decides she wants to bring it up whereas if man started talking about a hunt he was particularly proud of, his date would be on her phone in a flash.

I do think men do basic shit and the things outlined in the post are basic, but it's the dismissive and unsympathetic attitude that's really irritating, not the opinion itself. Most men likely recognize a "no hookups" tag is both basic as shit and meant to stem the tide of propositions a gal will assuredly experience on Tinder. You can be judgemental, but the casual, glib meanness with which basic bitch dude shit is handled puts a sour taste in my mouth.

Because they're taught that modern societies are supposed to be not shallow and based on superficial appearances, and it's hard to break out of that delusion.
