Hey I live literally right where the Indiana thing happened; you don’t know the full story. She was responding to her father who had a heart attack, and she was very involved In church and daycare. She was a very great person, but this had smeared her life. During sentencing, the mother of the children got up and beat the lady being sentenced, punched her in the head.

Not excusing he ridiculous sentence that the women got here, but there is more to the mans side of the story here.

First he stole the flag from a local church, which added to the sentence, secondly he has two previous felonies on his record which drastically increased the length of the sentence, and lastly he stated that if given the opportunity he’d do it again which probably did motivate the judge to give him a lot of mercy.

I’m all for calling bs but you gotta give the full story or it makes the argument incredibly weak.

The first one has some info missing, 1 the dude stole the flag, 2 he burned it in front of a gay club and then 3 he threatened to burn down the club. So we've got theft, destruction of property, and threats of mass murder and property damage. Remember people, context.

EDIT: no this does not mean i think the guy who simply made threats and burned a flag deserves a higher sentance than someone whos actions directly resulted in the deaths of multiple people. That would be dumb as hell, but apparently thats what the people who have replied to me thought i meant. I REPEAT: I DO NOT THINK THIS IS FAIR. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY BS SENTENCING. i was simply trying to point out that you shouldnt take headlines at face value as media corporations will gladly leave out important details simply to get more attention for that sweet sweet green paper.

The guy got hit with 3 strike law, only thing i disagree with was he was charged with a hate crime. Apparently the flag was someone elses. I could see theft, I could see arson. I dont see hate crime, not unless you would be willing to say that burning any other flag is also a hate crime. Which I am not prepared to say.
