While I don't disagree that eye-for-an-eye feels good, I don't think it's right. I'll ignore gender here.

The purpose of retaliation, as justified by the law, is to protect yourself from further damage. I.e., self defense. If person A is hitting you (regardless of gender) you have the legal and moral right to defend yourself with force. If person A sneaks a hit in and runs, you are no longer in danger. There is no self-defense claim.

Is it human nature to want to hit someone who hit you to 'get even'? Yes. It is also human nature to want to speed, do drugs, hit people when they make you angry, and kill in many regards but these things aren't legal or advisable in many cases.

All that to say, I'm happy this lady learned that actions have consequence, I just wish it came from punishment divvied out by the school or police.
