I don't agree with identity privelege as a concept, but someone has to stay home and care for children and take care of the "house" so to speak when the men go off to war. It would make sense that it would be the physically weaker sex. It's what we were built for. Having periods and the ability to get pregnant isn't conducive to war. Your family back home, your wife, was something to fight for.

oh boy there are several things to unpack here.

Being considered too feeble and soft to be any good as soldiers by your own civilization's government and leadership isn't an 'advantage'.
The policy that enables this entire system to exist in the first place is shitty and nobody should have to be drafted ever in the first place,
If such an infrastructure must exist, though, it should draw male and female citizens equally.
There hasn't even been a draft in place since the boomers were teenagers in the first fucking place.

Even after all that said, it's still piss poor consolation for having to contend with the risk of getting incapacitated for nine months if you fuck, or having to bleed from your crotch every month if you don't.
