Is it common practice to respond to your food delivery texts? I just wave at them, we don't even talk.
[–]varkey98[S] 108 points109 points110 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Same, don't know why this woman took this much offence though.
[–]mementoEstis 71 points72 points73 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Girl culture involves a ton of false flattery and most women are observant enough to notice. Women also highly value the response they get from men, and notice that different women get very different responses.
So out of desire to get real data, considering the women in their world will either give them false flattery if they are friends or neutral, or give them potentially false slights if they are currently pissed at them or rivals, women become more sensitive to trying to interpret hidden meaning out of words.
Women who feel they haven't been successful with men, either in general or with keeping them, will also develop massive self esteem issues that will be focused on perceived inadequacies.
Meanwhile, guy culture involves a lot of false insults at friends, and an ease of language where action is the focus, not the word choice. Men directly show each other their stance through action, and rarely pay anywhere near as much attention to how they talk with one another, outside of building rapport and developing humor.
This woman has some massive self esteem issues with her appearance and feels masculine. This guy doesn't pay attention to words and just uses bruh as gender neutral pronoun for person.
So the woman primed to look for meaning takes the slight from a man as a confirmation of her fears, and in her world all slights are at the minimum signs you don't like them. While the man didn't even notice the slight since about 15 minutes ago he just finished telling his best friend that he's tired of buying the condoms when he fucks his mother.

If anyone reads this and doesn't want to take it seriously because it's just "some random dude on the internet," wife and I have been seeing a relationship therapist for a while and she says the same thing.
[–]Yurishirox 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
If anyone reads this and doesn't want to take it seriously because it's just "some random dude on the internet" why would you assume they would take seriously another "random dude on the internet" aka you?
[–]HeadCowGrazing 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I wouldn't say the above statement is controversial or even bias. The idea that women focus on words and men action is pretty basic human behavior is it not? You could also say men are better with things and women are better with people, and you'll see this played out in career choices.
[–]AnonyDexx -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
But if it's coming from you, some random person on the internet, why should I believe it? It's not blatantly obvious as you make it out to be and it would be pretty easy to throw out counter points to that last part.
[–]HeadCowGrazing 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
What counter point can you come up with to the fact that professions like teaching and nursing tend to be more female dominated while fields like engineering and construction tend to be male dominated? We're talking on average btw, obviously there are male teachers and female engineers.

That's not what I said. I said it's easy to give counter examples to makes preferring things and women preferring people. There could be blatant factors you're skipping over. Males are typically rejected for roles that have them working young children, for example. How does that affect the number that would apply?
Which category would biology fall under? What about doctors?

How the hell is there any question that bruh is gender neutral? There's a potential possibility that girls use the word even moreso than guys. Don't you guys use the internet?

Valérie has issues.

To be completely fair, it is extremely weird to refer to a woman as bruh
[–]gokaired990 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Not even remotely. Dude, bruh and guy/s are gender neutral terms.
[–]Compressorman -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I have always thought that bruh was a lazy/slangy way of saying ‘bro’, which is short for brother. And brother is definitely not gender neutral
[–]gokaired990 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Brother is usually not gender neutral, but the abbreviations for it have become so. Both bro and bruh are gender neutral terms.
[–]WaveOfWire -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Iknow dude is. Bro is still pretty male imo

[–]alhazered 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I am confused about the "good looks" part, is that a colloquialism? Im not a native speaker, so i understand it as "youve got good looks/you are looking good"? Why would you comment that If you didnt saw the delivery Person?
[–]Lurkay1 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Lmao imagine getting offended delivering food.
[–]jontss 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What does "good looks bruh" even mean?
I call everyone "dude," I definitely don't mean to offend anyone, to me, it's like saying "cool" not "MAN." I call girls and guys "cunt," why? Because they are acting like a cunt, it's a term used for being stupid or idiotic, NOT just the female genitalia. It's amazing how words can be used in different context to have a different meaning. Look at the word fuck and its one meaning??? I call girls and guys "dude," because it's a reference to them doing something like a bro would. Wtf is the feminine version of a 'bro' move? Legit question.
Now, before you think that all guys don't pay attention to what they say, my girlfriend does the exact same thing. Does her mom like being called dude or bro by her? Yep, because she understands the meaning behind it.
Dude was probably stoned, just had food delivered, and was just like, bbrrroooo that's so cool, yeahhh.
Everyone gets their feelings hurt too easily these days. People need to stop acting like a bunch of female genitalia.
