So I can point and laugh at people like you of course. Also, sometimes the content is amusing when there actual exists a situation where women expect to be treated one way and get their privledge checked instead. Than you go into the comments and you see people that take things way out of context or use it as a platform to spout bullshit like "if a man did this to a woman we would be in jail because they would cry rape!" or some such nonsense. The opinions that are shared here just go way overboard sometimes and I can't believe how some of you invent ways for men to be victims as if the entirety of human history hasn't been heavily skewed towards the privledges of being a man and the oppression of women. Do some problems exist for men based on double and unfair standards? Sure, but they pale in comparison to what women still go through every day and if that's what you find to complain about in your life and society, I'd say you got it pretty easy. It's like the stereotypical feminists that everyone loves to hate except the male version here. You make mountains out of problems that barely warrant a mole hill.

You're right. It pales in comparison. Getting 60% more prison time for the same crime, being more likely to be charged, AND more likely to be convicted, being treated as expendable, violent rapists who are DEFINITELY also pedophiles, having your own suffering seen as a source of amusement for others, being denied the right to back out of parenthood that's not only GIVEN to women, but outright encouraged - these things may seem rough, but every time I worry about them I always remember to check my privilege and recall that women occasionally have to see men on the bus sitting with their knees a foot apart. Some of them even have to play video games and hear teenage boys make lewd comments. It really puts things in perspective for me. I mean, my uncle, who was electrocuted by a power line he was repairing -- he really was the lucky one

You had a chance to actually make a useful statement, you started out good. Than you devolved into a almost comical representation of feminism, showing yourself to be exactly what I described you as. The extreme version of whatever the male equivalent of feminism is. Have you ever had a girlfriend? Do you know the touch of a woman? Because you seriously come off as someone who has a grudge against them for not giving you the attention you feel you deserve.

There are some valid concerns you mentioned but it got lost in the delivery and now I can't take you seriously. This is what I find so funny about this sub. Your points are overshadowed by the sheer level of whiney bitch that you accuse feminists of. You bring up false equivalences instead of admitting that women and your typical feminist may actually have some valid concerns as well. You're so pissed off at woman that you can't stop your prejudices from shining through and showing what a weak minded person you are. I'm sure you're being deeply honest, and feminism only addresses major, important issues, because I mean, when the entire mainstream feminist media apparatus is bouncing back and forth between "actually, Islam is the most feminist religion" and "ugh gosh aren't men just the worst?" we can just say they're not REAL feminists. Alright. My claim is a comedically bad misrepresentation of feminism. Sure. Educate me, then, on what REAL feminism is? Name me a feminist organization, I'll show you an organization that seeks advantage, not equality.

Since I'm going to continue being accused of downplaying all female problems: there is not a single feminist issue that isn't intentionally overstated by the media. Women are paid 77 cents on the dollar for the same work? Horseshit. Been disproven more times than anyone could count. 94 cents? NOW we're talking. You want to talk about whether women are pressured into specific jobs that pay less? Sure, let's have that conversation - right AFTER you acknowledge that those still aren't the "same work," and right AFTER you acknowledge that men are similarly pressured out of taking low-paying jobs by their increased requirement of being wealthy. Want to complain about a lack of women in executive boardrooms? Alright. I'll take it seriously the moment you complain about a lack of women repairing radio towers, cleaning windows, doing sewage work. Coal mining. You know, the SHITTY jobs that feminists have never heard of. Want to say one in 4 women are raped? Ok, as long as you tell me the definition of rape in the study you're using, and what its author said about women raping men. Yeah, women have their own set of problems; yet when you take the prevailing cultural word on them and refuse to look into the issues yourselves, you accuse every person who actually talks about them truthfully of "downplaying"

Listen, you bring plenty of interesting and valid points but the fact that you seriously can't acknowledge any of the problems woman face is what I find most interesting. I could sit here and go through each thing in detail and prove you're right about some things and wrong about others but would you accept any of the things you're wrong about? Would you admit that there are real issues women face in today's society? Would you say, ya, but what about this, why don't they complain about that and why do men have to deal with this but no one cares? Would you ever admit there are any inequalities? Would you concede any points to feminism?

I don't think you would and I find that amusing and sad because you're obviously not an idiot (sorry for the personal attacks, you've avoided them yourself in this comment so I'll do the same) and you clearly have the ability to form logical arguments back up by science but this is such a heavy issue for you that its almost personal. It's really like someone hurt you and made it personal and I have to wonder what your issue with women stems from.

So, while I would love to debate the finer points of everything you brought up because I agree with some of them and i can refute others in ways you might not have considered, I don't feel like you would be truly open to that. This is very personal to you and until you can acknowledge feminism is just as valid as whatever... This is.. And become open to opposing viewpoints I'm going to be wasting my breathe. I don't have an issue with women - feminism supports them, and I have an issue with feminism itself because it attacks my identity. I don't think you can seriously argue that there's not a male-bashing culture on the internet and popular television right now, and I don't think you can argue that feminism is totally unrelated to that when prominent feminists have famous quotes saying women don't need men, men are worthless, etc. Feminist literature and theory in gender studies departments (which ARE contemporary feminism) are centered around the concept of painting white maleness as the root of evil, to the point that it's like a bingo card watching online media explain violence or other crimes. Is it a white male attacker? Then it's because he's a white male. Nonwhite male? It's because he's a male. White woman? Well, that's white privilege. Nonwhite woman? Undoubtedly this was the result of years of abuse at the hands of white men and society at large. No, I don't have examples of all of these; I'm stating hypotheticals based on the response of that same media towards Islamic terror, or female rapists / false rape accusers.

Any trait that isn't explicitly applicable to white males is explicitly excluded from consideration as any possible contributor to anything negative. That's old-fashioned demonization. THAT is what I have a problem with, not women. Sure, I've had bad experiences with women, and so have friends around me, but I've had good ones too. I'm not going to paint THEM as the problem - the ideology centered around their advancement at the expense of others is the problem. I feel like feminism has had more than enough chances at this point to show that it's about equality rather than simply female advancement - and not once have I heard of or seen any feminist organization running a campaign to resolve any problem faced by men that ISN'T also faced by women. Until I see not just one of those, but a complete philosophical shift towards that in majority feminism, I will continue to treat egalitarianism as the ideology in support of equality, not feminism.

Additionally, I think your description of "whatever...this is..." is a clear illustration of why it's fair for me to judge feminists more harshly than I do people on my own side. If my side had the same kind of institutional and cultural power that the other does, earning it the same level of criticism, it would absolutely have an immediate, recognizable name to you. You don't have a name for this because you never encounter feminists who are actually saying any of this. You don't encounter feminists concerned about men's workplace death rates. So we have to talk about it ourselves - yet another reason egalitarianism is absolutely a separate concept.

If you want to talk about specific points, and you think you have information I haven't considered, just PM me on any of the topics. I'm willing to re-evaluate my own positions on individual issues, but for the reasons I stated above, I think I'm unlikely to start supporting feminism as a whole if you can't somehow prove that it's pro-man despite all of the anti-man rhetoric it's currently putting across the airwaves

So the way this has been explained to me is that sexual assault isn't simply assault on your sexual parts. It is something that is considered threatening or unwanted because of the sexual nature.

So touching someone on the shoulder to get their attention isn't any form of assault but grabbing someone by the ass to do the same could be.

So groping a woman's breasts could be considered sexual assault but punching a women's breasts during a fight would simply be assault. There is no sexual connotation in the fist fight so the location of the blows don't suddenly make it sexual assault.

In the same way kicking a guy in the balls is just assault because it is first and foremost a physical attack. Sexual assault would be more like someone reaching into your pants and grabbing a hold of your fun bits.

Obviously not a lawyer and all that stuff but I think a general rule of thumb is that sexual assault is a charge for when assault wouldn't otherwise apply.
