Oh my gosh I have a whole list for 2019!

I usually set goals for each year but so much was going on in 2018 I didn’t.

I actually created my goals spreadsheet (geeky I know) with measurements yesterday so I can keep track.

My main goals are:

lose three stone
focus on self care (taking time out for me, meditation and daily reflection)
save up to go to the dermatologist and finally get my skin sorted
make saving a regular habit
read and take action from Fascinating Womanhood and Surrendered Wife - regularly review my progress and be very proactive in improving my contribution to my relationship
undertake some form of bible study
contribute more on this sub!

I usually make only a few resolutions, in three main categories: Business, Personal, and Marriage.

Business: bring on 5 new team members and subcontractors.

Personal: go to the gym every day.

Marriage: strive to be done with work by 4:30 every day!

Do you set New Year's Resolutions?

I do! I generally pick a few in different categories, and journal about them. This year, I'm going to try setting a one-word theme as an overarching goal.

Did you have any New Year's Resolutions from 2018 that you'd like to share? How did they go?

To be perfectly honest, I don't think I set many last year (and if I did, I wasn't very structured about them/writing them down). Regardless, it was a very good year with a lot of personal growth, so I'm pretty satisfied!

What are your resolutions for 2019?

I'm setting my one word (well, phrase) for the year to be "self compassion". In general, I have a lot of feelings of guilt and inadequacy that aren't actually helpful or accurate. So this year, I'm going to try to be kinder to myself! Some of my specific resolutions are:

Enjoy food more. This means not feeling guilty about eating, eating good food, focusing on eating (ie not while watching TV or otherwise distracted), and avoiding rubbishy foods that make me feel bad. I have absolutely bought a large volume of Lindor chocolate truffles in the post-Christmas sales and am planning on enjoying one every day this year 🍫🍫🍫
Be kind to myself in my own thoughts.
Journal. Be more in touch with my emotions and make the time and space to feel them and express them.
Less screens, more books and hobbies. (I am working on my master reading list for the year of books I want to read!). Screen time (TV and internet) is an easy activity to reach for, but it isn't really good self care - I don't relax fully, and my attention span gets shorter.

This is all really important because I have a tendency to let myself get run down and sad. Laura Doyle writes about the importance of self care as a fundamental part of being a good spouse.

Bonus resolution: eat loads of veggies, exercise more, track my cycles, take my vitamins, and avoid alcohol except for very non-fertile times - we're hoping to add to our family this year 👨🏻👶🏻👩🏻

Bonus question: what are you doing for NYE?

I'll be having a quiet night in with my husband, before he flies interstate the next day for work! We'll likely have a few tasty drinks, cook and eat something delicious, and stay up late sitting in our garden.

I don't typically make resolutions. Though my current goal is to track my caloric intake at least 5 days a week. I found that just doing that limits how much I eat and I can lose weight that way. I'm not the type to make big changes (I have a hard time making them stick) and I'm breastfeeding so doing that could mess with my supply anyways.

As for plans: staying home and watching Live PD with my husband. We had a party we used to go to, but my husband was accosted at last year's because he is a Trump supporter. I wasn't there because of the kids (and it wasn't exactly a surprise that this happened either, we live in a super liberal area). It is sad, these people have known him for, geez, 15-20 years at this point and were willing to assume that he is a racist Nazi because of who he voted for.

I enjoy setting resolutions and reflecting on the year! I think it's a wonderful way to look back and process the year.

Last year my resolution was to step out of my comfort zone more often. This included things like going on a ski trip (I'm a beginner snowboarder!), getting a new part time job doing something I really enjoy, and travelling across the country with my husband to a place we've always dreamed of.

This year I am also choosing a one word arching theme for the year: today. This really has to do with being more mindful all of the time, and not getting overly fixated on all of the what-ifs of the future (I have a bad habit of getting myself worked up and anxious over what usually turns out to be nothing!)

Continuous resolutions are always to eat more veggies, spend as much time as possible outside, and find joy in the little things.

My word of 2019 is THRIVE! Last two years I have been in survival mode mode. My mental health drastically improved this year and now I'm happy to move forward in life.

Goals for 2019:

Cut out social media | I started this resolution a month ago and it has helped so much already. It's a huge time waster comparing your life to others. I also never realized how much I was looking for validation. The one exception is I might make a private Instagram for my eyes only so I can easily track my fitness progress.
Cut out alcohol | I might have a glass of champagne for NYE, but besides that I'm done! This won't be too difficult since I never drank much anyway. I want to stay in shape and I don't enjoy drinking anymore. Hangovers definitely get worse as you get older! This might be tricky in social situations but if I explain my fitness goals I'm sure people will understand.
Cutting out caffeine | This is going to be TOUGH. I love coffee. A little too much. Unfortunately it's dehydrating and it affects my anxiety and sleep.
Drinking more water | I'm replacing my morning coffee with hot lemon water and ACV. Surprisingly it tastes really good! I'm also try to drink 3 big bottles of water daily.
Use my bullet journal daily | Bullet journaling can be tedious but it's so fun and creative to draw and play with color. I found so much inspiration from Pinterest!
Get GAINS | I'm a skinny little twig so it's time to get some muscle! I'm starting Strong Curves and I will be eating at a caloric surplus. I'm intimidated but excited to see progress!
Move into new apartment | I have been wanting to move closer to my job for a while. I have a long commute. The studio apartment I'm hoping I can move into next month will cost $350 less/month than what I'm paying now. I can put that extra money towards paying off debt and savings.
Sell my car | My car is almost 8 years old and has 120k miles on it. It's still in good condition but I'm afraid of it breaking down and then I can't afford a new car. So I'm planning on selling it and hopefully getting $3000-3500 for it and using that money to buy a Lyft pass for $300/month. It sounds like a lot - and it is - but when you add up gas, insurance, oil changes, new tires, car washes, etc., it's not a huge difference. Much cheaper than a new car payment! I plan on doing this for 2019 while I save up to buy a new car.
Go full time | My job recently cut our hours so I need to go full time. I have to learn certain skills and get my attendance points down first. Then I have to wait for the position to open up. I still make enough money to pay my bills, but I'm used to making more.
Make more friends | All my friends live in different states, so I have no social life. No social life also equals no boyfriend. I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to making friends, especially when a lot of girls love drinking and riding the CC. Aaaaand I'm a homebody that loves my cat haha!

Bonus goals:

Take one yoga class a month
Read one book a month
Get my brows microbladed
Get chemical peels, massages, nails done once a month
Get my wisdom teeth taken out
Get Invisalign
Start laser hair removal
Buy feminine business clothes for when I go full time
Save up for a trip to Universal next November/December

These bonus goals are dependent on my available time and money. My main goals and budget come first!

My plans for NYE consist of being a boring homebody, drinking champagne with my cat lol! I desperately need to fix that this year.

Yayyy happy New Year!

I was waylaid with food poisoning on Sunday so my 2019 goal setting is behind!

I'm really happy with 2018 progress. I forgot to set a mission word, but I've been allowed to accomplish so much! I've grown a lot in faith. I've embraced more water attributes, largely because of my man and life circumstances in general. Our relationship is continually strengthening. I've learned a lot about cooking and lined out a great routine for domestic tasks that works great when I stick to it! I've ironed out my decor concepts for cold and winter months, and we've acquired an array of awesome home goods that make life so wonderfully convenient! I did a pretty intense reflection on archetypes that was really helpful for setting goals as well.

This year, my word is "devote." I will devote myself to faith, my future husband, our soon to be united families, our pets, our home, and those entrusted to me. I need to explore the archetypes some more and connect with them to set some new, specific goals! For now I'd like to catch up on the laundry and deep cleaning that I skipped over the holiday break and enjoy the last few presents wrapped under our tree and the final dregs of cedar scented candles I have left to burn <3
