A Posture Problem

This isn’t just a physical appearance problem. This is a medical issue. I’m an aide at an assisted living center and a bad back = a death sentence once you get older. Poor posture might not affect you too much as a young person but as you age it will begin to limit your mobility and make getting around much more of a chore.

My fiancé also has posture issues (to the point where he developed a hump on the back of his neck) and has already developed chronic back pain at the age of 25. I sat him down and explained pretty plainly that I’d like him to be able to play with our kids in ten years and I’d like to be able to retire with him and travel the world at the age of 60 without worrying about pushing him around in a wheelchair because he couldn’t be bothered to sit up straight.

We saw a back doctor recently and she confirmed the fact that poor posture can cause massive problems later in life.

You’re not doing him any favors by pretending like this isn’t a problem. And it’s not mean to admit that his posture (which is within his control) is beginning to become an issue for you in regards to sexual attraction. It might be hurtful, but it is not mean. Mean would be if you were trying to make him feel bad - all you’re doing is trying to solve a very real problem.

Tell him that you like his big meaty chest and then rub your hand on it and smile at him. Try to drop compliments here and there to boost his confidence. I found that compliments helped with certain insecurities my husband had too, he started to worry about them less and less. Also good posture is very important to back and neck health, you can make a comment about yourself like how you found you have rounded shoulders from poor posture so you're going to make an effort to pull your shoulders back more, and then mention how you have less neck pain and strain from being more mindful of your posture. Try to be informative and positive with your good habits so that he hears you so it doesn't appear that you're trying to lecture mother or nag him. There is always subtle way to influence good habits in other people with out telling him in words. Lead by example.

Most likely the poor posture comes from sitting too much, especially if he games a lot.

Tell him to read a post on trp called “looks 101”.

I have strong authority the guy who wrote that post knows a thing or two about posture.

Or alternatively, you can take a look at it. Write a few notes on it. Then combine that with what reboot told you (alongside complimenting his chest) :
