Would love some advice please. I haven't been dating in awhile, and I really need some help.

My friend introduced me to a great guy. He went to an Ivy League university, great job, decently looking, but very popular with the successful, young professional crowd. He's very likable and highly respected, but at the same time, knows how to have a good time. Mutual friends have nothing but great things to say.

Let me start by saying that I know it's my fault that I went back to his place the first night we met. We didn't do anything beyond kissing, but I felt like it set the wrong tone.

The next day, we started facebook messaging. I could see that he was active and online, but he wasn't reading the messages. I thought it was so odd, and I couldn't tell if he was just playing the game.

Since then, we've been texting. He takes awhile to text, and last week, I texted him first 2 out of the 3 days. But when he responds, it's a very thoughtful and long text, not generic or boring. There's always a question at the end, as if he wants to continue talking.

We met for dinner on Sunday, and again went back to his place, but I didn't allow anything to happen. I mentioned doing dinner with our mutual friends Wednesday (tomorrow), and he said he would let me know.

He's always really sweet and calls me a cab home, but I haven't heard from him. First question: Should I reach out first? I don't want to be too available. He jokes that he's really attached to his phone, but when we hang out, he doesn't go on his phone at all, which I appreciate. I don't want to be needy, and I'm wondering if texting him first will make it seem like I'm too easy. However, when I saw him both times, he seemed really into me. At dinner, we had great conversation and he was really engaged. I guess I'm just always paranoid if he's just physically attracted. My friend who introduced us told him, she's not "one of those girls, be good to her." I think she said it pretty lightheartedly, and it wasn't meant to put pressure on him. For this reason though, it seems stupid for him to want to just hook up with me at risk of coming off as a dbag, when he could just as easily hook up with someone else outside of the network.

Second question: Like I said, I messed up in the beginning for not keeping it more casual. What can I do at this point? Also, how do I move away from same day/last minute plans to more formal dates?

While I'm dating several guys, I think I like him the most. But it could also be that the other guys are so attentive, and he's not, so I just want what I can't have.

Thanks!
