No, I see your frustration. That's where your inclination toward extremes originates. It's perfectly natural and understandable. And yeah, orgasms rock.

There is nothing wrong with a woman asserting her sexual needs in a marraige. Far from it - one of the benefits of a good Red Pill marriage, from the man's perspective, is the increase in libido his wife usually demonstrates. And . . . at certain points in the process suddenly it really does threaten to be a disparity in desire. When a RP wife needs to get her oil chainged, there's no rule saying you can't encourage him to change it. Aggressively, even. A woman asserting her sexual power in a relationship to fulfill her own needs, irrespective of her husband's, is part of the complex intersexual equation that evolves in a good, stable RP marriage.

When a man displays reluctance, there can be many different reasons, only one of which is him not finding you attractive anymore (usually the first stop on the emotional reaction to the reluctance). That being said, when a woman puts concerted effort into a sexual display in order to allure her husband to bed, a wise man will cooperate enthusiastically with her.

The OP is right, there is a balance that needs to be met. Men initiate sex about 70% of the time. That means 30% of the time they don't. It's your turn. A couple of quick and dirty (emphasis on the latter) suggestions:

  1. If mornings are difficult to orgasm, grab the vibrator FIRST for a change. Instead of leaping straight to penetration, insist on performing for him, all the way to the endzone. After you get your cookies, he can splash around in your dopamine soup until you're both satisfied.

  2. Ambush him. Find some excuse to seclude him from the public. Ensure you wont be disturbed. Start taking off your clothes. He should clue in.

  3. (An old Game fave) Agree & Amplify. He wants a BJ? Make it worthwhile. Tell him that you'll be glad to . . . in the car at the top of an empty parking deck. In the coat room at the wedding reception you picked at random. After spending half an hour trying on ridiculously expensive jewelry that you have no desire or inclination to actually buy (this could be dangerous - but I've seen the effect $10,000 worth of diamond necklace can have on a woman. It's worth the risk).

The point is to encourage him to engage you sexually in a broader way. Sex is an extension of the complete marital conversation into your intimate life. You both need to learn how to engage and direct each other sexually, within the context of understanding and exploring your own desires. Part of this is learning how to challenge each other sexually

This is far more important than you might think. It's natural to crave novel sexual stimulation after being in a relationship. Ignore these feelings and they combust into infidelity or sexual dysfunction as you struggle to understand what's happening. The industry-standard answer to this is, honestly, to throw porn at the problem and hope it clears up. That can work, in some cases.

But as a couple you have to understand your sexuality in the context of your entire adult lives together. Finding ways to challenge him sexually, and allowing him the freedom to challenge you, is an especially important part of this process. While both parties are naturally fighting for sexual equilibrium in a relationship, the practical fact of the matter is that reaching that point is an ephemeral thing. Things don't evolve toward perfection - they bump into perfection on the way down the chaotic street of our lives.

Good RP marriages actively seek out ways to improve and expand the sexual lives of both husband and wife. That doesn't mean going right for the whips and chains - save something for retirement - but in the mean time investing in the intimacies you share will pay huge dividends later.

It's not about what he wants vs. what you want. You're both in the same boat. Learn to paddle together, or you'll end up going in circles. And if mama wants her num nums, a good Captain recognizes that and . . . num nums.

Hope this helps.

Ian

Most of the answers sound like sex isn't that important to them but is important to their husbands, so they do whatever they can to keep them pleased. Sex is more important to me than it is to my husband. And it isn't JUST about the orgasm. I cannot and will not continue to meet someone's sexual needs while they refuse to do anything to address my own over a long term.

Sex is incredibly important, and perhaps some women don't have many needs and can be perfectly content satisfying a partner and getting solo gratification on the side, but for me this would be serious enough to end a marriage if it truly didn't change. That said, it doesn't really sound like you're handling this in the best way - as in, the way that will get you the results you want. Turning him down with his already low drive is only going to make the problem worse.

Have you tried offering other alternatives like shower sex? "I don't want to blow you because you've left me unsatisfied lately" is guaranteed not to achieve good results, but "I love pleasing you so much it gets me turned on too. Can we move this to the shower?" might work better, or at the very least not emasculate and blame him for a libido he can't control. Does he absolutely refuse sex every evening? When did his sex drive change? Was there a major change in your lives that caused his sex drive to plummet? Does he show any sort of motivation or seem to care at all about your pleasure, and if not has it always been that way?

The sexual chemistry has to stay in tact in order for a marriage to work. And though it may be tempting, shutting down completely is only going to further dissolve the chemistry you once had.

[–]PhantomDream09 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Sex is incredibly important to me - but there's more going on here than we know. We don't have the full story, and the OP's 'response' is catty and childish. When things are a bit strained - you don't give less you give more. I suspect there is a lot she's not disclosing (as is often the case). If she's vindictive inside the bedroom, it's not hard to imagine that she's just as unpleasant in other areas of the relationship.

How do you define long-term ? A month, a year? You are very sensible, so I doubt that if things started to get rocky, you would flat out refuse to do stuff with your husband simply to get back at him. I have needs, and I need/want to be satisfied - and the best way to make sure that happens is to continually give and look after my SO. He always takes care of me in every aspect of our relationship, he's driven to do so because I continually support him and invest in our relationship.

[–]BakerofpieEndorsed Contributor 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

To me, "long-term" would have to be something that is clearly a personality issue. That's why I asked if he has always been uninterested in meeting her sexual needs. Some people are selfish in bed and express their affections in other ways, and that is fine for some partners and can often be easily solved by both partners taking responsibility for their own orgasm.

If you marry someone who has never expressed much interest in satisfying you sexually it is your own fault when you suddenly have a problem with it. It just seemed like a lot of the answers here felt like a "deal with it," but of course I could be misunderstanding intentions and tone. I agree there is clearly a lot that is being left out of this and making it impossible to give a real answer (aside from "no, your behavior is not acceptable"). I am very curious to see if OP will answer any of these questions.

Yeah, she left A LOT out:

http://www.reddit.com/r/RedPill_Couples/comments/22iwzl/submitting_after_your_husband_makes_major_mistakes/

She blames him. After that post she made another thread about her husband's low libido - what a coincidence!

I was cold and removed on purpose- it's not my normal manner. This was a deliberate action/move after months of asking him to help out and getting some very snide answers. It was definetely a last resort- but there were no other options. During this time I was getting zero me time. Nothing- nada. I needed his help in order to get the time away. As far as dates- yes we do, but to tell you the honest truth I'm not that interested right now. I'm the only one who plans dates or things to do and I just don't have the will to right now. Trust- I'm trying. Really I am - but things just get worse financially- there is no turn around in sight. Activities- Thats a bit difficult when there's no money. At this point he has made it so that I have no access to money (overdrawn personal account and no access to the business account) so I literally have to ask him for cash.

"I was cold to him because I had to be."

She was fine with him being in charge until things got rocky. Unless he magically turned into a risk taker out of the blue - my guess is that she was fine with his decisions as long as they turned out well. I'm beginning to think she's a Fair Weather Wife, and I have serious doubts about her ability to see how damaging her behavior is. She blamed him then for the business troubles, and she blames him now for the bedroom problems. Call me crazy, but that sounds like a pattern. I bet her feels little to no support from her, and that her vindictiveness manifests in many different ways - withholding intimacy in the bedroom is just the latest expression of that resentment.

[–]BakerofpieEndorsed Contributor 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Sigh. It's so easy to play the blame game and decide that it's up to the other person to come around and change. It's truly a toxic attitude. I was sympathetic to this post because I have felt depressed and undervalued when it comes to bedroom issues, and I fully understand reaching the point of frustration where you're ready to give up. It can be tempting to retreat into childlike mind games rather than do the much more difficult work of serious self reflection, throwing away your notions of finger pointing, and doing what you need to do instead of what you want to do.

Knowing how difficult this issue can be,

Edit Oops, I hit submit before I was done! Haha. Anyway, knowing how difficult this can be, I tend to read the tone as frustration rather than a desire to be "right" or get your way. It is a benefit of the doubt that admittedly is not always deserved based on the information given.

Barkerofpies - Actually your words were so much help during that time. I wasn't sleeping well with all of the anxiety and you really did help me. I tend to keep things bottled away from him in an effort to not burden him- you called me on it then and it really did help. So- thank you.

[–]BakerofpieEndorsed Contributor 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm glad I could be of help. It can be a desperate situation when something like this that is at the core of your relationship is going south. It comes and goes with my husband (just a little something to add here that you may have already looked into, but it seems to be greatly impacted by his diet), and I think this is a struggle I will be facing off and on for the foreseeable future. I would be absolutely full of crap if I said I never got a bad and unproductive attitude over it. Feel free to PM me if you're ever interested.

[–]norcaligirl[S] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hubby is coming off a long diet this weekend and starting a bulking phase to put on muscle. I'm really hoping that it helps a bit- should be able to make some of his favorite foods now.

Anyhow- thank you for the encouragement.

[–]norcaligirl[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes- I was in a dark spot then. Things were pretty bad financially and I was trying to keep my anxiety hidden from my hubsand and the kids.

I admit to being cold at one point. I was at a point where my anxiety was so bad that I could not handle everything. When I went to him to ask for help he shut me down. My coldness only lasted for a couple of days before I got it turned around.

Fair Weather- hmm. I don't know. We've stuck it out through so many things (our son died 7 years ago- now that was rocky and yes he was in charge) that I don't know if that term is fair. Anxious- yes. But I don't leave and I tend to have a stubborn all hands on deck attitude.

My husband has always been a risk taker. Most of them come out great. Some don't. I have never once blamed him so much as I lost some faith. I have restored it in him- tell him daily that I love him and am proud of how things have turned around. During the business troubles I tried my utmost not to blame as I knew he was blaming himself.

In my last post regarding his libido I was just looking for ways to improve things- ideas. Maybe something I was doing wrong that I could improve on. It's not hard to see that I can always improve on something.

[–]norcaligirl[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Up until the last year his libido has matched or out paced my own. We were doing great.

When his libido went so did a lot of his affection, flirting, teasing etc. I can handle this because when we had sex it was really gratifying for both of us- I could completely relax and focus on us.

I have tried all kinds of things from offering massages to learning to deep throat (sorry for the TMI), but it just seems to get worse. The past few months have definitely been more challenging as he gradually switched exclusively to morning sex- now that complete gourmet relaxed sex is gone.

He had his testosterone checked and was supposed to do another test but the Dr said it was pointless to do it. Basically he knows it's bad but says he doesn't know why and doesn't know when it will come back.

Right now Im not even asking for gourmet sex. Id be happy with him just helping me out at night. I think he doesn't wan tto do this as it makes him feel like less of a man- he not into it so there must be something wrong.

[–]lostatsea93 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I know this isn't very RPW, but I was in a similar situation recently.

It was the elephant in the room. I wasn't emotional or needy about it. I simply told him that I love him, I appreciate him but X is important to me in my sex life. I understand if he doesn't want to do X, but I won't be going the rest of my life without it. And I would appreciate him telling me up front if it is never going to change, so we both have a chance to find partners more sexually compatible.

It has since changed.

TL;DR: I recommend being upfront, honest and non emotional or reactive about it. But first determine if it is a true deal breaker for you. And, if it is, be firm about it. That means leaving if it doesn't change.

EDIT: It's worth noting that I regularly rock his world. How do I know? Because he tells me. I'm very sexually generous with him.

PS. I'm in SoCal :)

I'm 38- he's 40.

Actually I love giving blow jobs. They're usually a staple of our sex life. The problem right now is that nothing is happening outside of morning sex (even that is not often) and then to be asked for a BJ on top of it just feels - frankly- lonely.

It's not that I haven't been willing. Like I said I haven't had an orgasm with him in well over a month. All of that sex & BJs were great, but I am consistently left to finish myself alone later that day. There's only so much selfless in a person.

I should also add that his libido has been low for about a year. This the first time I have refused him- other than when I was coming down with a stomach bug last winter. I cannot count how many times I've been turned down. I can honestly say that I'm not feeling vindictive- I'm feeling sad and lonely. Sex is supposed to bond me to him- but its a source of loneliness right now.

o_o what did it say?

[–]DelphineSerafine1 Star -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I'm not going to sugar coat this, but you're saying you get nothing in return but you're not feeling vindictive, you're just stopping everything cause yeah. Sorry to say it, but it does sound a little vindictive and that you're looking for us to validate you refusing your husband sex.

Refusing a man sex, more to the point, refusing your husband sex has one effect on your man -- it emasculates him and makes him feel like less of a man.

And that's really all I have to say about that.

[–]norcaligirl[S] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What I meant is it's not coming from a place of being vindictive. I simply didn't want to face the loneliness of it today.

Right now our pattern goes something like this-

He wants and gets sex in the morning. I cannot finish no matter how hard I try. I wind up finishing myself of without him later that evening. It's lonely. It's literally been this pattern for almost 2 months- not to mention the issues prior to this.

He has no interest in helping me out in the evening- says he's too tired and not horny.

I don't want to emasculate him, but how do I balance not having my sexual needs met while continuing to meet his? That's what I need help with.

[–]DelphineSerafine1 Star 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Toys. Seriously, if you absolutely have to finish, use a toy, either before, as part of foreplay, during, or after. Anything.

And you might not want to emasculate him, but by denying him, that's exactly what you are doing. Guys who have been emasculated have no interest in sex.

[–]norcaligirl[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I use toys in the evening by myself.

I don't need to finish each time. Honestly I don't. But I would like to on occasion. He just doesn't feel up to helping me in the evening.

[–]DelphineSerafine1 Star -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And you encourage him to finish you off by not giving bjs?

I have no flipping words. None.

[–]norcaligirl[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I give BJs all the time- heck I even learned to deep throat as I thought it might help our situation. This is the first time I have turned him down. I'm not at all proud of turning him down this morning, but I don't know what else to do. He does not want to help me out in the evenings- he wants me to learn to climax in the mornings. So far I've not been able to do it. I've tried everything I can think of- but my body is not cooperating.

[–]_wingnut_ 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

You are completely off base. Your orgasm is not the end all and be all of sex, bonding with your husband and taking care of his needs are very important. Refusing to give him blowjobs is just simply rejecting him. You are being tit-for-tat and nasty and vindictive. Refusing sex in marriage is one of the cruelest things a woman can do to a man. Get a vibrator and use it during sex if you can't stand not getting off.

[–]norcaligirl[S] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think you read my post completely. I cannot orgasm in the morning. I've tried every which way- but it just doesn't happen.

I'm not trying to be confrontational and I love giving him pleasure, but I'm having trouble walking away from our sex never being fulfilled. It just feels lonely. I spend all day worked up and wind up masturbating instead. Constantly orgasming by yourself when you have a partner is just sapping me.

How do I find balance with this?

[–]ayvyns 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link

So you feel used and unappreciated. Have you tried communicating this in a non accusatory manner? Maybe he's eager to fuck in the morning because that's when it's easy to stay hard. You can blow him in the evening without finishing and then have penetration. Is his job draining? What are other things he does for your relationship? What are you contributing?

[–]norcaligirl[S] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

He has no libido in the evening- comes home and says he's too tired or just has no desire.

[–]ayvyns 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yes I did. I know it was wrong. I fully admit that. But I've been available every single time for the last 7 months. Not trying to defend my actions this morning, but I honestly felt like I couldn't handle how lonely it makes me feel in the evening.

[–]norcaligirl[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I missed part of your message or hit reply in the wrong spot.

He is definitely at his best in the morning.

He won't allow me to even try in the evening. I'll initiate (send sexy pics, lingerie etc) but he usually just says he's not interested.

The other night he walked in on me finishing myself- I invited him to join and he declined.

His job is hard, but no more so than its been in years past.

I've been reviewing my contributions to see if there's an area where I'm lacking. I can def use improvement on my seduction. I'm afraid my ego has suffered here. I'm thinking of trying costumes next but I'm not sure I have the courage.

When I talk to him its out of the heat of the moment. I ask him if has any desires we could try. If he could take a night off the gym.

I'm not sure what to do next.

And I think you're on to it. I know when we've talked about it he says that he doesn't flirt or touch because he doesn't want to turn me on and the not follow through.

I really want to find something that just cranks his engine so much that he can't resist it. Maybe that help with the evenings?

I would find ways to flirt, tease, subtly appreciate the little things he does that make him powerful, keep being affectionate, but I would not initiate sex at all

You have a horrible attitude, and your behavior is entirely unacceptable. Have you suggested introducing a toy to help him in the morning? If you turn him down and his drive is low - that is a really quick way to get him to stop trying all together. You should want to engage in more sex (whatever the form) - not punish him when he does want to be intimate. It's this kind of "me first" mentality that kills a lot of bedrooms.

I'm sorry- I'm not trying to have a bad attitude at all. I'm just frustrated.

I'm not opposed to morning sex. I just can't orgasm and that is all we are having.

If we were having sex in the evening as well that would be awesome- but we're not.

Toys- they don't help in the morning. Trust me- I've tried.

I just want to be able to orgasm with him again. What we're doing now leaves me feeling wanting. I'm just so lonely always having orgasms by myself.

What do you do to try and get him in the mood at night?

Answer the basic questions we ask users to provide information for, what did your sex life used to look like? When did it start dropping off? Why do you think it's been tapering down? What could you be doing better? Do you fight a lot/bicker? Have you turned him down in the past? Is he going through a stressful time? Has his drive always been low? There's a big difference between trying to get a guy to have sex, and having him walk in the door with you naked on the bed.

Being gentle and encouraging him in subtle ways may help boost his esteem. When he walks in the door and sits down, go over and untie his shoes for him. This is something I do from time to time - not because I have to, but because my SO always looks immediately happier and more relaxed. Give him a back rub, or just go down on him. Do you flirt with one another and laugh? Are there other issues in the relationship? Have you gained weight? Has he?

Our sex life used to be pretty high. His libido out paced or matched mine almost all of the time. We were fairly kinky- nothing was really off the table to try at least once.

It started dropping off a year ago May/June- so June 2013. It didn't much taper as it went from very high in April 2013 (going for it daily if not twice) to medium ( going down to 2-3x per week) to low (2-3 times a month) by July.

What can I do better? I can work to seduce him more. Ive been trying to learn different techniques to improve things/ spice them up. I'm a bit hesitant to try more seduction as I have been turned down so much lately. But my ego can take a back seat for a bit.

Not much for fighting. If we do it's more of a difference in opinion and it's settled pretty quickly. I don't turn him down - well other than this morning.

We went through a stress ful time in the Fall on 2013-January 2014. the libido issue started when things were going relatively well.

I like the untying shoes- I will try that! I do give back rubs, but when I start to touch him he says he's not interested.

Flirting & Laughter. I would say our flirting is way down. I've been trying to do a bit more of it. I need to think of more creative ways. We've always laughed together- it's one thing we're really good at. We take time to talk every night and usually end up in tears from laughing so hard.

I've actually lost weight- still working on the last bit but it's going down each week. He's lost weight as well.

So you have a problem with orgasming, and you punish and reject your husband for it. I loled

[–]norcaligirl[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I cannot orgasm in the morning. I can in the evening. I have no issue with morning sex- but it's become the only sex we have.

That would be fine too- but he doesn't want to help me out later in the evening. I don't think it's unreasonable to want to orgasm with the person you're having sex with at least some of the time.

Should I have rejected him - no. It was a mistake and I fully admit that.

What I want to do is find a way to meet both of our needs so that neither one of us is feeling this way.

No wonder your husband has a low drive. You, and other family members blamed him for the financial issues. You can't say "I'm going to let you be in charge, but only when things are coming up roses." If he messed up, I'm sorry that happened, but you have to make sure that you don't have any residual resentment, that you aren't actively second guessing him, or trying to make him feel bad. From what I can tell, the financial difficulties set in, and then his libido tanked - there's almost certainly a connection there. I'm sure he's beating himself up over this. You need to quadruple your efforts to be supportive, loving, and show that you trust him. No one is perfect, and if you can't stick by his side through calm and rocky waters - then you don't know what it means to be a good First Mate.

Look at how you talk about the bedroom issues - you blame him for this. It's his fault, and you have every right to be mad and withhold sexual intimacy. Do you see how entitled that sounds? Do you see how damaging this tit-for-tat score keeping nonsense is?

I explained above that we went through a rough financial patch. In this thread I was working through all of the anxiety associated with this. I was concealing all of the anxiety from him in an effort to not burden him. But I also was finding it hard internally to continue submitting at the time.

I tell him daily that I'm really proud of the way he has turned things around. During it I cut everythign back that I could think of, went to work for our company and tried to screw him in the office- I mean literally on his desk. That was actually pretty fun.

As far as score keeping with the sex I have begun to feel like that a little bit. It's hard because it's been going on for months- not just a one or two time thing. I don't want to keep a scorecard at all- I honestly want him to be satisfied at all times. I need to find a blance that gets us where we need to be.

How do you say I need this (because I really do need to orgasm with him) without making him feel worse? I've been trying to come up with ways but I can't seem to find the right one.
