Honestly, I never really felt the difference between expensive leggings and affordable leggings and athleisure in general. It’s LEGGINGS, they are all comfortable. I have a set (matching top and leggings) from Banana Republic that I got on sale for like $40, and I have Lululemon and Alo Yoga stuff that is a lot more expensive but feels pretty similar comfort-wise. The Align pair from Lulu feels “buttery soft” to the touch, so if you’re looking for softness that’s a food one but it’s not necessary for comfort.

The only reason to buy more expensive leggings IMO is because they aren’t see-through so you don’t have to worry about your underwear peaking through when you are working out. More expensive leggings are also more compressing and sometimes akin to shapewear, but not really a comfort thing and more of an aesthetic thing.

I'm a big fan of Old Navy joggers. It's snatched at the waist but wider at the hips which is perfect for my body type. I usually size down so it fits like a legging, and the material is so soft to touch that it doesn't even feel like I'm wearing anything while working out.

Full text: I just bought a gym membership and need work out apparel ideas! Not limited to leggings, the title is more generic, even work out tank top and sports Bras suggestions are appreciated. I have heard about the shefit bra and do wanna try that out. But I feel like a lot of stuff is marketed so gimmicky, for example with Nike and Adidas being sport brands, I know they must certainly have some quality workout stuff, but the question is which ones, and which ones are literally only selling because of the brand name? Same with lululemon... I worry about Lululemon being all hype, and if they do have good stuff, which section of their store should I be looking at?

I’m an Athleta fan.

I specifically need to have deep pockets in my leggings. I wear them to work out but also on long walks and to take my dogs to the park. I need those pockets for keys, phone, AirPods case, poop bags, etc.

Athleta makes soft strong leggings with deep side pockets.

I definitely have felt a difference in quality between lululemon and some cheaper brands, so I do feel they’re somewhat worth the money (comfy and last a really long time), but there are still other good options. Old navy is owned by the same company as Athleta so they also sell really good quality leggings for a bit cheaper. The leggings at old navy/athleta are on the thicker/structured side, so if you want the soft and weightless feel of lululemon aligns Aerie sells a really similar pair!

Personal trainer in my off time. I wear Constantly Veried Gear leggings. High waisted, not super compressive but firm, really deep pockets, buttery fabric. Their bras don't fit my body, though.

I've owned a lot of leggings, but the best ones ever were a pair by Marika. Ugh...the fit, the fabric, the cut, the construction.

I wore them so much they got worn out. But they did last a lot longer than most of my other workout leggings.

I had the long, ankle length version in blue. I want to buy like 10 more pairs.

This isn't an answer to your question so I'm sorry, but the mention of lululemon made me want to ask...have you heard of the true crime murder that happened in a lululemon? I know how much women like true crime or maybe I can only speak for myself lol but it's an interesting story.

I'm not shure if you can buy them where you love. I have two shock absorber bras with maximal stability. Even if I jump in them, there's not much movement. They apparently sell them in various colous from what I can remember, but being on a budget, I tried to get them cheaper, so one's black and one is white. Still fine for me.

For leggings and other work out apparel: The price does not always aline with the quality. Take a look, if the material mixture is good, if the seams are neat and if it's knitted like t-shirt fabric, try to see if the small rows of the shirt are horizontal or if the legs from the leggings have the same row alignment. With cheap t-shirts, most of the time they get es many front size as they can out of the fabric, so the knitted rows are aligned not horizontal but shifted for some degrees. If you wash your clothings, the shirt will soon get baggy because the fabric is not symmetrical. Also look, if the fabric is too thin. If so, it might also not last very long.

Also try to look for some handy features. My leggings and one of my tops have a small zipper pocket. It's easier to store the gym card or some keys there then just to take a bag or something with you the whole time. Some friends of mine have leggings with a smartphone sized pocket which they really like, but based on the sport I do, I wouldn't use it, so I opt for smaller pockets that I can close.
