I've been working really hard to avoid nagging, and it's going really well--except for one problem.

My SO often leaves food out after he's made a snack or lunch (I make all the dinners now! Feels good). I put it away when I notice it, but I'm not always home in time to rescue the food before it goes bad/stale. (Mayo, cheese, lunch meat, salsa, bread, cereal, etc) I've mentioned it once before, but nothing really changed.

I'm not really sure what to do from here. We don't have enough money to constantly be throwing out food, so this can't continue. The only two options I'm seeing are 1) just keep telling him he's left stuff out (which feels like nagging) or 2) let the stuff go bad and don't replace it, and next time he wants the food say "that's what happens when you leave the food out!" (which feels passive aggressive)

Is there a third option I'm missing? HELP!
