Im a bit disappointed with some of the advice given to other women in this subreddit. I read some advice that basically said for a woman to like her man for more than his money, and reading this I asked myself "why are women expected to sit down, wrack their feelings to make sure that we are being completely morally sincere with men who if we we weren't attractive or sexually available, would bugger off in a heartbeat." its this almost pious sincerity thats being asked and advised of us when men would LITERALLY leave you if you didnt look the way you look or are the way you are. hes selected YOU off of shallow means and we are asked to love this man to his core before hes even proposed? we've attached far too much weight to "boyfriend and girlfriend" when in times past that was just him courting you? you are NOT married. whats considered being a "good girlfriend" now is essentially give him wifey privileges (cooking/cleaning/counselling him/cohabitating) with zero commitment which actually gives him LESS incentive to marry you. and so after 6 years of dragging it out he leaves, hes still only what 32? completely in his prime, now has "experience", isnt even a silver fox yet, can say he "fumbled a baddie" and loses nothing. meanwhile the woman has given him intimacy, lived with him, relied on him, built herself around him, and given him her best partner finding years. and now she leaves and maybe shes 30 and its very much harder now for her to find someone, not to mention she might need time to be single and emotionally heal, which pushes jumping back into the dating scene to potentially 31-32 onwards. this is why you should decide "how long am I willing to date a guy who wont propose?" lots of women are pegging it at 2 years. I think this is fair. it is OKAY to choose a guy because hes a good provider. its OKAY to feel panicky or anxious if hes not married you yet and its been over 2 years. in every century prior to this one marriage was a given, now, women enter relationships with men that could last 7 years with no ring or commitment, and unfortunately men leave this completely to us to decide to remove ourselves before we waste too much time.

a lot of people might disagree but the bare bones of how men work actually says that yes: given a man wifey privileges does lower his incentive to marry you, it does push the marriage timeline out, sometimes significantly.
