An hour ago or so he started itching there and i held his hand to stop him and he hit me on my hand. I didnt feel pain after but i was just shocked he didnt just brush off my hand or something but actually like slap my hand. He started apologizing and hugging me but i refused.

I'm not going to tell you where your boundaries should lie, but this doesn't match the implication in the title. You violated his personal space, in a time of discomfort and pain, and he slapped your hand away. If that's past your boundaries, so be it. You're asking for opinions, though. That's not really a "he hit me" moment, in my opinion, and shouldn't be treated as such. He was extremely apologetic and has no propensity for violence. I'd let it go, personally. Perhaps keep it in mind for the future.

He was hurt, and it sounds like he reacted instinctively or out of reflex. Personally i would not count this as a classic "he hit you" or abuse.

Based on the description it doesn’t sound like he hit your hand out of anger or frustration, but more of a knee jerk reaction. Of course I wasn’t there, and I’m not trying to minimize abuse if you feel that is what happened. If you explain to him that you were shocked and are feeling uncomfortable by what happened, his response will tell you everything. If he belittles you or gets upset, that would be a red flag.

You shouldn't have grabbed his hand to stop. Do keep an eye out if he ever hits, shoves, grabs your hand etc first without you doing it first. And definitely don't do those things.

As someone who has been hit abusively before, this isn’t the same. Please relax. You violated his space and boundaries while in pain and he swatted your hand away as a reflex. He didn’t hit you in the manner you’re trying to imply, but you feel the way you want to feel I guess.

Reflexively smacking someone away while tending a motor accident wound is not "hitting you," at least not in the way native English speakers use the vernacular. You say sorry [for messing with his hand], he says sorry [for acting on instinct], it's over and neither of you think twice about it.

Do you have some kind of history involving physical attacks that this is reminding you of? Your response sounds very disproportionate.

HUGE overreaction. This is nowhere near abuse, and frankly you should learn from this that you should not invade his personal space when he’s in this position. The title is ridiculously named & and should be edited. I actually think he owes you no apologies. Other way around in fact.

This is not a domestic abuse situation. You grabbed his hand and he slapped yours away. You started this situation by grabbing him and trying to forcibly stop him from doing something. If anything you would be the aggressor in this situation.

Should he have pulled his away or pushed yours away instead? Ya, but he was just in a motorcycle accident and is probably in a lot of pain.

You said it didn’t even hurt. Like he didn’t hit you, this isn’t “he hit me”. There was no violence behind this action and you know it.

Full text: To keep it short hes a really sweet guy, weve been together for over a year and i never expected this…ever.

I came over to my boyfriend in his city last night and everything was fine. He had a motorcycle accident but it thankfully wasnt anything serious- he didnt break anything and had a swollen and bruised leg but it’s fine and 90% healed now. He said he feels itchy there but he knows he shouldnt itch. An hour ago or so he started itching there and i held his hand to stop him and he hit me on my hand. It wasnt rly hard but not rly gentle either. I didnt feel pain after but i was just shocked he didnt just brush off my hand or something but actually like slap my hand. He started apologizing and hugging me but i refused.

Im so heartbroken and unsure what to do. On one hand i think this could never happen again and since it wasnt hard im just overreacting. But on the other hand, i feel like if he hit me because of a silly thing like this idk what could happen in the future.

So I dont want to make a decision right now on what to do but I wanted to ask for your advice because I value it. Im asking here because if i ask anyone else they will say “leave” which is the first thing i thought of as well but im wondering if i should give it another chance. This never happened to me and never expected it to… i just feel so ashamed even though i did nothing wrong. Thanks in advance
