Most guys value the blunt: I think we need to stop seeing each other. I don't feel like this is going to work out.

I tell them the truth. "I don't get the impression you're that interested in me." Speak from an "I" standpoint that's not accusatory. Or say something like "I get the impression we're looking for different things." Straight and to the point. I try to be honest with people because people deserve to know...just thinking back on all the times people were not honest with me is annoying

I don't really care too much about being polite to a guy I barely know. Maybe that's just because every time I've actually rejected a guy rather than ghosted, he threw a fit and demanded explanations and sent crazy messages.

I, for one, would appreciate if someone was honest with me in This situation. Just tell him, straight up, I am no longer interested in pursuing this relationship. If he gets clingy or weird, simply block him on every social media and on your phone. But first, I would try being honest. It’s always the best policy.

Don't make excuses. You don't need to give a reason. I like to smile and say something like "Thanks, but I'm not interested." Or "I'm flattered, but no thank you." This way a guy can walk away with dignity and it's not a completely awkward interaction.

Edit: ghosting someone is not classy or mature. I'll admit, I've never dated online so it's perhaps a different world, but cutting things off directly is, while harder at first, much better.

Generally if I'm not 100% sure he's making a pass on me, I just go into 'boring mode' - less smiles/eye contact, mundane conversation, interact less. This is usually enough for them to get the hint, I don't like to make it awkward by outright rejecting unless it's with a guy who just won't give up. In that case, I'd just politely tell him "sorry, I'm not interested in you like that" and move forward. Again, I'd limit interaction for a little afterward so you don't accidentally give mixed signals.

If it's someone I went on a date with and I ended up not liking them, i'll just kinda shut down. I will barely respond to their texts, their advances,etc. If they don't take the hint then I'll explain why I am rejecting them. If it's someone I don't know I don't necessarily care about being polite

Every situation is different.

Reject them the same way you would if your SO was watching you 5 feet away. It's very easy to frustrate your SO if you handle this wrong. Both sexes.

I say I’m really sorry but we don’t seem to be completely compatible. Then I wish them the best for the future & that I hope they meet the right girl for them. If they are abusive I block their number

If you make an explanation, you'll get asked "why" in other ways.
