I love this. I always do a 5 minute tidy. I understand he needs some time and space to decompress so I’ll greet him but keep myself occupied, usually by cooking dinner, until he’s ready to rejoin.

I just had baby number five under five seven weeks ago. My focus is more on the home at the moment, because if I let that go, it's a lot harder to catch it up to a point I can maintain. I work hard to keep the kids' laundry folded, keep everything picked up, the sink empty, the counters cleaned, the house swept, vacuumed and smelling good. I do the grocery shopping and try to have a dinner plan in the works before my husband gets home. I pick up the house every night before I go to bed so it doesn't make the next day harder.

As for my appearance, I make an effort to be clean (never understood the moms who don't shower), well groomed, and in clothing I'd be okay wearing on a Wal-Mart run where I run into someone I know. I shave my legs twice a week, as I always have, keep my bangs trimmed, take care of my skin, and am trying to lose weight. I dress nice and wear makeup when I go to church or family events, but life has seasons. It's okay if this one is a chubby and less stylish one when I've had my fourth C-section in less than five years and am not even supposed to be lifting my 30 pound one-year-old.

I stay with my day's outfit and makeup on and I have the home clean; there's dinner ready or soon to be ready if he's hungry (he will phone me and let me know, whether he wants dinner or not – he normally prefers just a large lunch). When we first married, I always had a candle lit, new lipstick applied, music playing – he told me it's not necessary. I guess it had the image of trying too hard and something too perfect, as in, uncomfortable; it can't be touched without messing it up, like an exhibit. So it's easier to just have a clean and nice appearance but be realistic too. It reminds him that he is home. I always greet with a smile and a hello and I let him tell me how his day was, if he wants to share; I just linger around for a bit, wipe counters, dust, etc. to be in the area without being annoying so that he can talk or just relax any way he prefers. I don't want to be caught doing something "lazy," so sometimes I will just be reading, doing a puzzle, etc. and that way I can do my own thing and he can spend time with me or alone how he pleases.

We both wfh 100% so we’re always around each other lol. I’m often done with work earlier so I try to do a work out in the basement gym and then start dinner so we can eat and then spend the evening relaxing together. He prefers to keep the house pretty cool as he runs warmer than me so I kinda end up bundling up year round indoors, but I try to dress up a bit if we leave to do errands. I’ll dress up when we go out for dinner. Kinda unexpectedly, he compliments me more when I’m dressed to workout than any other time lol, I think he’s always liked the sporty look.

My husband usually works at home but on the days he goes into the office it means the most when he can tell that I'm happy he's come home. A smile and a hug and a readiness to greet him means the most.

I wear a lot of sundresses and stuff. You can Google what looks best via your color palette and body type if you're interested in that sort of thing. I go for warm colors and waist emphasis.

I tried for a long time to have the perfect picture when he got home. House clean and tidy, food on the table, pretty wife and kid. I was putting a lot of pressure in myself to attain something he didn't really care about. Eventually he told me he'd rather come home to a messy house and a happy wife, than to a perfect home and a frazzled wife.

He doesn't really need time to decompress when he come home either, and would rather be with me. So, now I leave the house in whatever precarious state it might be that day, greet my husband with a smile, and compete with the kid for hugs and kisses. It must feel like being caught in an avalanche the moment he opens the door, but he's quite happy about it.

Full text: Hey ladies! This is for all the women in relationships over a year. Especially if you’re a mom but I’d love to hear from everyone in a stable relationship.

What do you and how do you look around your man when he comes home? What is your energy that you try to bring once he enters the door. This is assuming you’re already home first and you have time to get it together.

So far I’m working on having an energy that is refreshing and smelling really nice when he walks in. Kitchen ideally clean unless I’m cooking but I’m trying to look for nice indoor dresses. Like a kaftan and such. What do you all do?
