I'm (24F) currently in a 4year LDR with (28M). We're both conservative/religious and are together with the intentions of getting married once the distance is closed. I'd describe myself as very feminine, easy going, low maintenance, non-confrontational, and non-argumentative.
I have no complaints about the relationship except for the fact that sometimes he speaks to me a little harshly and I don't know if it's something I should get over, or something I should keep bringing up with him to resolve. I've increasingly started noticing this and I don't want to build resentment. It makes me not want to submit to him because I don't want to appear like a push-over. (He's previously said that I'm too nice and accommodating, so I've been working on pushing for things that I like to do, or my "demands").
Let me give you a minor couple examples...
Example 1: We're planning an outing together with another couple. I really wanted us to go to the zoo, but didn't push it too much because I know he doesn't enjoy going to the zoo, but I wanted us to do something I like (I typically let him pick our activities). So I brought it up a couple times hesitantly. He then said "Leslie likes animals! we can go if she wants to go........UGH unless you really want us to go....AUGH fine we can go"
I personally felt that he was prioritizing Leslie's interests over mine and felt that he could've politely said "we can go if majority of the group can go" which I would've understood. I felt a little like an afterthought.
Example 2: He'll be visiting his hometown (where his friends and I live). He was recalling how much fun him and his guy friends have and he immediately says, "You know I'll want to hang out with my friends, we might not be able to see each other that much." I never once mentioned any plans or anything about wanting to spend a lot of time together. It felt a little rude that he blurted that out, especially since I'm very understanding and know that he likes to hang out with friends he hasn't seen in a while.
I've brought up things like this in the past and they turn into unnecessarily long arguments (he's very argumentative and defensive). Is it worth bringing up these annoyances? Or is this something I'm overthinking?
Thank you, ladies!
