Last night my boyfriend decided to go out. I guess I wasn’t happy about this. I have been out of town the past few nights and last night was my first night in town. We always sleep together, though we don’t live together. I’ve been sick and not feeling well, I told him this. He still went out. He also went out the two nights prior, which didn’t bother me before this incident. I didn’t know he was going out until after 10 pm. At that point I didn’t feel like we had anything else to discuss (I don’t really like talking to him when he goes out without me). I told him I’d talk to him tomorrow (which is today). It’s now 9 pm (next day). We haven’t talked. I’ve had a productive day and wasn’t too concerned about anything until maybe 6 or 7 pm.

I don’t know how to handle this. I go out, on average, once a week. It varies, sometimes I don’t go out at all, other times I’ll go out three times. I don’t like going out when I don’t feel 100%, I’m definitely an introvert, though I do have a good time when I go out. I don’t go out without him. I can think of only two times that this has happened.

I guess I don’t get why he wants to go out a third night in a row, especially since I just got back in town. All his friends are officially single and I had a bad feeling last night like I don’t trust him. Most of our fights seem to revolve around going out.

What are your faults?

I get upset when he goes out without me. This doesn’t always happen; if I’m busy (homework, studying, etc.) or out of town, I don’t mind. I don’t expect him to sit at home for no reason.

Why do you think this problem manifested?

Probably because we have different views on this. If he wanted to stay in with me, I would agree (I can think of only one time when this didn’t happen, and we had had no prior communication so I did not know he wanted to stay in).

What steps have you already taken to try and resolve the problem?

I try not to be bothered when he goes out without me. I don’t mind anymore if he does so when I'm busy (like I previously mentioned). However it's hard not to be bothered by something that obviously bothers me.

How long has this been an issue?

The past year.

Are you making a mountain out of a mole-hill?

I honestly don’t know. My boyfriend lives with his friends, so it’s not like he needs to go out to see them. That’s probably what gets me. If he wanted to hang out with his guy friends, he could have done so any day this past week. His friends like to pick up girls when they go out and because they are all now single, this is probably the focus of their nights out.

How's your bedroom life right now?

I had surgery about 8 weeks ago. We just started having sex before I went out of town. Prior to surgery, we were having sex 4-6 times a week. During the six or so weeks that I couldn’t have sex, I was always up for BJs and he knew that.

Help ladies. Am I overreacting??

UPDATE: rather than address all the comments, I decided to post an update. I guess that I had been a "depressing person" lately. I had surgery and haven't been able to participate in my hobbies until the past week. I have also been more of a homebody the past month (which I am usually not). Things came to a head last night and we talked about it. From his point of view, he was trying to be extra nice and make me happy/not depressed, and I was not responsive so he stopped trying. I honestly wasn't aware of any of this and I'm ashamed to think that I had no idea he felt this way. Things were better today. I've asked him to be more upfront when he feels this way about me, because I certainly don't want him feeling like this for weeks at a time.
