Out of my girlfriends who are (happily) married, surprisingly, a lot of them said that their husband didn't propose until she gave him an ultimatum.

It wasn't until she had made her intent to marry very clear, and still wasn't getting what she wanted, then walked away/broke up, that the man finally "got his shit together" and proposed to her. And this is not just a few of my friends, it was many of them.

I feel surprised in this observation. What does RPW think about giving ultimatums? Is it a good strategy?

In my personal experience, my ex-boyfriends have also come around more seriously the second time, once I got fed up and left.
