I stopped offering to pay my half in the early stages of dating. I think this is improving the dynamic on both ends. It causes me to naturally overflow with gratitude and affection. Even if things don’t work out, I remember the man in a positive light. I’d like to keep this dynamic up forever, like through a dating relationship and marriage, but is that realistic? In an ideal world, any income of mine would be used to do things like surprise him with luxurious home cooked meals, obtain a second vehicle, take yearly vacations, etc. I want my husband to finance our basic expenses and date nights.

Does this sound reasonable? If not, when should I start offering to split or trade off?
