Don't fail? I very much disagree.
Many men, myself included, are here because we failed in some way. Failure is crucial. Keep an open mind and learn from your failures. If I hadn't been cheated on by my gf I would probably still be complacent and stuck in my usual routine. I failed in my relationship, as a partner and as a man and leader. She found someone else and branch swung.
If you don't fail and accept failure it just means you are still too comfortable in yourself as a person, and in your place in life. Anyone who pushes himself out from the familiar and comfortable will as a natural result fail sometimes. Embrace that. Experiment, fail and learn from it. The more risks you take, the more you fail but you also succeed more.

I think you can edit the post. P.S. I love your movies!

"don't accept failure, don't accept mediocrity" would also be a good one

Recently unplugged beta & new to RP, still struggling to get my head around all of this information/terminology if I'm honest. I'm out on a mission to change my fucking life, so for people like me this sort of easy, simple structure goes a long way to helping. Thank you.

Just a word of warning not to get too focused on simplifiy TRP into a few statements. When I first discovered TRP thats exactly what I was loooking for as well. But trust me its a cop out. A summary is good to look back on to remind yourself of general guidelines but you MUST dive deep into the trp material (read sidebar) and understand where the guideline comes from in order to internalize it. Otherwise you will fall back into Beta tendencies bc a guideline/3 rules cannot cover all scenarios however theory can! If you internalize the theory you will be equipped to handle all scenarios. Just think of it like Calculus or any other complex subject. You may be able to handle some problems by just memorizing rules but you will quickly reach your limitations.

Cheers mate, I intend to do just that.
I've downloaded a few of the recommended books and read a lot of informative articles. Long train journey ahead tomorrow so I'll be listening to the "No more Mr Nice Guy" audiobook. I'm really blown away by how well-adjusted this community seems and the camaraderie that exists.
After reading some of the literature I feel like I'm having some sort of existential crisis; I'm on the outside looking at the wet drip that I've become - and it disgusts me. I'm looking to TRP to help restore my confidence and make me more assertive/focused.

Good stuff man, keep at it. No more mr.nice guy was my first trp read and it is a great launching pad. It described me fully at one point and it sucks realizing how badly you've been misled your whole life. I love our brotherhood too. Most if not all of us came here broken and have seen how much TRP can do for a man so we are quick to aid a fellow journeyman bc that is what TRP is a journey to being a better man. Good luck and godspeed!

Same here. Easy does it. Well, more like concise, concrete, tangible rules that I can look to for assistance. The theory and field reports go a long way too. But rules or even to-do lists go along way for a scatter brain. Haha. Thanks.

Cool man. Are you on social media? I am on everything because I took a 3 year hiatus from it all during my LTR. But now I don't know. I feel like monk mode is the way to go for now. I'm stressing man.

Also, be prepared to come face to face with your former beta self, that motherfucker is hard to kill. But stay strong, and all will be good.

I'm adding this to my notes so I can always have a reminder

Just write a list on what you have to do and sub lists on how you do it and try to apply it in daily life eventually it will become natural. Just like riding a bike.

It is not possible for a human to be emotionless. A much better point of view that incidentally made my frame way better is: understand your emotions and use them for your own advantage, train and use your emotions to remain cool and calm, or sporadically rage if necessary.
Suppressing emotions leads to anxiety. Understand, train and use your emotions to build a manly frame.

Suppressing emotions leads to anxiety.
I grind my teeth often. The only real emotion I ever show is anger, but that's probably not a good thing.

Keep your emotions to yourself.
What about positive emotions? Thrill, excitement, happiness? Don't they show high self-esteem and therefore high personal value?

Just remember red pill doesn't happen in one day, it's a learning process and we usually have to go through things to realize them, even if we're told they're probably true. We just now have the mindframe of how to interpret and respond to situations and learn from them better. Whereas before, we would keep making the same mistakes despite the evidence.

Dont fail
Fucking retarded advice.. please elaborate? Otherwise good post.
[–]BP_Purge5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
In this context, "Don't fail" has more of an abstract meaning. What OP likely was referring to failure in the sense of giving up. That is the only true failure. Bombing a conversation? Lesson learned. Fucking a shit test up? Lesson learned. Deciding that a chick who has had sex with 25 men before meeting you is worth LTR status? As long as you realize how fucking stupid that was then lesson learned. To fail is to not realize these mistakes and fail to correct your behavior next go around.
[–]aazav2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you never fail, you never realize the cost of failure and why you need to do it right.
[–]DalekJay2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not Retarded, he didnt meant to never fail, he meant to have a mindset on always go strong, was just a form of writing after you follow the other bullet points you arrive on a never fail mindset, what you always will aim to.
Like lifting if you arent lift heavy nearly failing on the last rep, you should be having lifting harder as if you dont, you are not get the most of your training. So go there do something aiming to never fail, if it does ok, if you dont, you get much more than going ordinay. In my job I´m known by being better almost overkill, when playing games I'm the best than most average, playing piano I'm better than average and so on
It´s the Law 15, but for all your problems/goals

Fail fast, fail cheap, fail often.

It should be: "Don't Lose"
2nd place is the first loser. No one cares about the losers or those who didn't win. What they care about are results and either you can procure results or you can't. Doesn't matter how. No one cares how many times you failed nor will you ever garner any pity for your failure. In the end, you either won and produced a valuable result. Or you failed and no excuse will make people respect or think any better for your failure.

Rio Ferdinand has a good point here: "It's not about participating. You got to win. Don't accept losing."
https://youtu.be/75KluX-1Wps?t=40m14s
Don't accept losing either.

Failure is a inevitable event that you are required to accept if you ever want to grow as a person.
I have a cousin who is terrified of failing. He grew up with 3 women and a father that was hardcore BP till he got divorced when he was around 10. He's grown into his own in the past few years but he really struggled with self initiated actions, constantly looking for others to tell him what to do and just in general all around womenally behavior.
Men don't fear failure. You think Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Elon Musk, Christopher Columbus or Genghis Khan feared failing? hell no. You have to accept that you will fail. every one of them have had tremendous failures. You will get your ass beat, you'll want to quit. Tenacity, boldness and the trait of never giving up are what makes boys into men.

You should add that no one truly cares about you unconditionally. If you want love, buy a dog.
