Anyone who responds with any measure of discussion about personal responsibility is screamed down as a victim blamer.

It does not matter how much the woman had to drink, or if she was black out drunk. She became unconscious at one point. Brock Turner had a personal responsibility to stop doing what he was doing the moment he realized she was out cold. I've heard the theory that because Turner was also drunk, maybe he didn't realize she was passed out. The fact that he ran away when one guy said, "Hey" to him refutes this. So does the police report. Multiple women at this party described Turner as being aggressive and trying to kiss them throughout the night. There really is no gray area with this case, and I think that's why a lot of people are so upset about it.

I doubt it. The kid fucked up, I won't defend him. I don't think TRP wants to either.

But I'm fucking tired of seeing his face everywhere. You'd think if people were so triggered by rape like they say they are, they wouldn't want to stare into a bloated rapist's eyes every time they look at a news feed.

Noise tends to reveal impotence, though. No one can really do anything about the rapist or the judge whose verdict they arbitrarily despise. Sign a petition, start another childish hashtag, comment on some posts to show your solidarity...what else? Nothing. Nothing they're willing to do, anyway. Impotence.

People hate feeling powerless, and the nature/crime of rape supercharges that feeling. Combine that with a culture of narcissism and virtue signaling, and you can bet that they'll milk this one till it's dry. They have to. They have nothing else.

TRP are not rape apologists. The only gripe we usually have is when men are falsely accused or dragged through the mud before the evidence is presented.

This guy made too many mistakes. None of us were there. I can't tell you if this was pre-planned or spontaneous, intentional, hands-down rape, or if there were any legitimate mitigating factors. But there's too much about the situation that's wrong -- if it wasn't real, live, intentional, hands-down rape, then the guy made way too many mistakes.

TRP doesn't proclaim that rape doesn't exist or never happens, and that 100% of rape accusations are false. That's not a rule or anything. Rape still happens sometimes, and maybe this was one of those times.

I don't understand why this is such a huge fiasco, though. Okay, so a guy rapes a girl. He's tried. He's convicted. He's given a sentence. It's not like the rapist got away with it and SJWs need to line up and protest the injustice. He was accused, caught, tried, and convicted. Isn't that the result they want? What are people still angry about?

This is probably the only place I could post this without being accused of victim shaming but this is advice that any mother would give her child. Dont get blackout drunk. We praise this part of culture, teens and young adults screaming "lets get wasted! yeah!" is horrible. Men and women should be able to get as drunk as they want without suffering from a crime; Monsters dont follow those rules. Monsters look for weakness and opportunities like this.

As for the topic of drunken sex. Dont do it. ever. Dont even get drunk its a bad idea. so what if one missed out on the having fun with friends or picking up a girl; or meeting a cute guy. Dont drink.

Victim blaming is saying it was her fault or she deserves it or they man is innocent because of this scenario. Suggestion young people dont leave themselves helpless is not victim shaming. No matter how much that charge is leveled at people it wont stop the monsters. They would encourage the opposite view. they will say "get as drunk as you want".

The insane part to me is that half the people arguing about this have apparently have never taken a drink in their life. Alcohol is a drug, and I highly doubt that Turner was even in a state of mind to determine anyone's consciousness. If you drink with a girl and don't think this could happen to you, then you're naive. It's impossible to remember what happens when you black out, and she very obviously blacked out when they were still flirting.

I came here to see if there was any alternate press on the subject. The fact that I can't find any ( I'm a trained broadcaster ) leads me to belive that the mainstream outlets are reporting this accurately and this guy deserves to fry.

Edit: I just want to clarify a bit. We know mainstream media uses outrage to fuel ratings. A lot of that is gender oriented lately. It isn't that far fetched to think that this story is being used " for the clicks". I was curious.

I will say this though, hypothetically, if Turner realized she was unconscious in the middle of the sex act, stopped, and attempted to redress her and then the Swedes ride by and see this, I think the story would've played out exactly as it has thus far. I don't know about a conviction, but I do think this would have been thrust into the national spotlight because it fits the narrative of rich privileged male who "raped" a helpless female.

I mean seriously, girls get black out drunk at parties all the time and get trains ran on them by dudes and they don't even know it when they wake up.
