because fewer people are getting marriage.

marriage is the leading cause of divorce, get rid if marriage and divorce disappears

[–]Nantafiria-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You have no idea how the divorce rate is calculated if this is truly how you think. The divorce rate is measured against the amount of marriages, not the amount of people in general.

[–]PookIsLovePookIsLife4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's actually surprisingly untrue. Divorce rate, strangely, is calculated in relation to population, not # of marriages. If you look at the CDC statistics, you'll see that the "divorce rate" (divorces per thousand people) is improving, while the % of marriages ending in divorce is going up.

Less people are getting married.

[–]wantonton 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True, but if there are no more new marriages all f the existing ones will either end in divorce or death. Then, when there's no more marriages anywhere, the divorce rate will be zero.

[–]tombreck2 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

I don't look at divorce rates, which gender ends it, average marriage length, etc.

I look at my married friends and they all look miserable.

[–]dj10show-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

I just turned 29 and most of my friends are married and beginning to/have kids. The theme I noticed the most is that as soon as the kids came, my friends turned into walking ATMs/handbags/child care providers. Not to say that having kids shouldn't increase your responsibilities, but it seemed like the majority of it fell on the husband. And then the wife gets on Facebook to whine about how the baby didn't sleep through the night and kept her from getting her beauty rest. Well your husband dealt with that too, and is at work to boot, you assface.

I went to Brazil for the World Cup this summer, and the amount of envy I received from them could power my car to the moon if it was an energy source. I could see the sadness in their eyes when I asked if they wanted to go and they said "I'd love to, but..."

My friend is finishing up his residency in NYU Med at the age of 28, SMV of 9 based on looks alone and tells me about how the nurses / female doctors throw themselves at him.

Unfortunately he married a girl before he went to med school, they have two dogs now (he hates dogs), rent a large, expensive house (that he hates), he always has to walk the dogs while his wife is out shopping and although she used to be a 9 she is already down to a 7 and she is only 28.

Maybe you have some weaksauce friends?

I hate the Fuck Marriage message.

It can be done, it just takes a man to be a man. Your friends hate their lives because they aren't fucking leaders.

RedPill Marriages have men who are happy with their life and they are with their woman forming a bond that cannot be found elsewhere.

I would go as far as betting that a majority of those who say Fuck Marriage will get married.

Edit: Source - I'm 27, 2 kids, married 6 years, sex life is great, life satisfaction is great, relationship with wife is great.

These are friends that have been there for me when my engagement failed and I did my best to drink myself 6 feet under. These are friends that were there to support me when my mom told me last year that she wishes I was aborted because me being picked on for being short and skinny in grade school even though I tried fighting back and always getting in trouble "wasn't what she signed up for as a mother". They are weaksauce in terms of their relationships, now that RP has helped me identify the signs, but I'll be damned if I call them weaksauce friends.

They were there for support. The two most important women in my life were, have, and will not be.

[–]TrainingTheBrain 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

But you have to understand that it was this experience that is causing you to throw a label on something you don't understand.

If I got my ass kicked by some blacks for no reason I wouldn't say all blacks fucking suck. Because they all don't suck, just the ones who kicked my ass for no reason.

The women in your life have sucked, but who are you to promote the All married men are miserable, Marriage sucks idea.

Your friends may not suck at being supportive, but they are not Alpha men and that is why they are miserable. I guarantee they could take charge and turn their relationship around if they stopped accepting mediocrity in their life and relationship.

[–]dj10show0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I am agreeing with you here, homes. Being a good bro and being a shit husband/leader are not mutually exclusive traits. Miserable marriages suck. I'm just saying I've seen a lot of them recently.

I will say though, out of my friends and extended family, it's only my sister's marriage that I even have an ounce of respect for.

[–]TrainingTheBrain 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Excellent, I've had to defend marriage on here quite a bit so excuse any brash response as I took your's to be another in opposition.

You're correct, shitty marriages fucking suck and unfortunately these garbage marriages represent a majority of them.

When you do it right though, it's fucking on point and life is good.

[–]smoothjazzanarchist0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You're young as fuck. You're just a bit older than me and there's no way I'm reading to get married, let alone have two children. You don't know what the future will bring. Some marriages are happy for 10 years and then they go down the drain. What if you lose your job? What if you can't keep yourself in check and start falling into beta-behaviours that turn your wife off? Can you insure you'll always give her the tingles and the financial support that makes a true, healthy, redpill marriage? The reason the stance of this subreddit is that we should avoid marriage is because it's a HUGE risk and not everyone can be an Alpha Provider.

If you're not 100% sure you met LTR-material that you can keep happy, horny and faithful, then you're risking a lot more than you're gaining. A divorce will bleed your wallet dry, severely decrease your ability to prosper in life and set back your career goals. It could leave you lonely and miserable if you haven't done a good job maintaining your SMV in a happy marriage.

Love is not enough. Kids are not enough. You have to be solid, successful, attractive, in control and find a woman who wants to be provided for and is willing to please you.

I have to ask, why are you defending marriage here?

TRP knows that there are Redpill marriages and that they can work. The reason you have to defend it is because modern-day marriage isn't the same as traditional marriage.

[–]TrainingTheBrain 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Age has nothing to do with this as we are all walking our own path. I may have started a family earlier and you may have started school earlier. Being in the military I had the opportunity to start a family, get experience surviving on my own, be exposed to things that may have shaped my mind to mature faster, and get an education, albeit a little slower than someone who started college right out of high school. So while I have a family and a Bachelor’s degree at 27 you may be single, being supported by your parents, and have your Master’s degree (Not saying you are but you see my point).

The risk that comes with marriage should be known to every man in this country. But don’t let your fear of what might happen prevent you from taking action. I have no idea what will happen tomorrow, none of us do. So, we make ourselves as prepared and ready for the unknown as we can.

I work out hard, continue to educate myself, lead with a firm but fair hand, always improving my sexual performance, and consistently setting the standard in the professional side of my life. What more could any man do?

I’ve said it before and I recommend it now. If you were to find your ‘Unicorn’ and thought about getting married & raising a family, you had better put her through the fucking gauntlet to ensure that you are gambling on a horse that is going to be winning for the long run – LIFE.

I defend marriage because someone has to step back and say, “Wait, marriage and LTRs can work, but they are risky and will require much more work than spinning plates.”

As for your point regarding traditional marriage vs ‘modern day marriage all I have to say is this. I don’t give a fuck what either of those mean or why there are different labels. In my eyes and that if my wife’s, we are married for life, through arguments and disagreements, etc. Marriage is a life commitment to another person and the only reason I would recommend marriage to a fellow man is if he plans to have children.

I wanted kids, I got married and had kids, I never stopped being the leader of my clan and I will continue to be the Family Alpha as it is who I am, not something I do.

[–]smoothjazzanarchist1 point 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I like this. I just think it's important to talk about positive experiences with a disclaimer on this sub. Yes, marriage can work, but if it doesn't, divorce will fuck you. And if things go wrong, you don't have the ability to keep your woman faithful the same way some men in LTRs that aren't marriage might be able to.

The solution is obviously reformed marriage/divorce laws that aren't sexist, but until that happens you're opening yourself up to huge risk.

Glad you're an finding success as an outlier.

The majority of men who say, "Fuck marriage", are likely not married nor have ever been married. They realize something: the current system in place only serves to hurt the majority of men.

Sure, some men are winning alimony from their ex-wives, but that is far and few, and most men are not at the level where they are such high commodities that they can draw in breadwinning women.

Most men that do get married and take a chance on the system are very, very likely to get burned. They will forfeit most of their hard-earned dollars and will have to commit to paying their former partners on top of that.

A system that is meant to be fair and stable has become a huge gamble for men and offers little to no reward.

[–]TrainingTheBrain 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So you're saying the guys who dated their girlfriends for years and put them through all of the tests regarding loyalty, commitment, checking their background, seeing how submissive they are to the direction the male is leading them.

The same guys who wait a few years after marriage to make sure that nothing has changed now that they are legally bound before they have kids with them and only having kids as long as the wife is still staying strong and supporting the path the relationship is going.

You're saying that those guys are very, very likely to get burned?

[–]Invalidity1 point 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Women in general hold men to one standard, and expect men to hold them to another. Whenever she wants gratitude/respect/love/etc., she wants you to take into account everything that she's done for you in the past.

On the flip side, she is primarily interested in what you have to offer her now. It doesn't matter how much testing you've put into a woman, it doesn't matter how much you've demonstrated a substantial leveraging of status, etc., all that matters is what you have today.

You could have been a famous, attractive, wealthy man most of your life, and she could have stood by your side for ages being the most loyal, interesting, pleasant and desirable partner ever... but the second you slip up, even if a minor fracture, you'll notice her interest in you wane.

All men are at risk. Like the motto goes around here, "Marriage is TRP on hard mode." It is not for most men, even though most men desire to be married and have kids some day.

The men who have a false notion of, "I've tested this woman endlessly, and she's passed all my tests... and we've been married for some time now and she's continued to stay strong... I'm ready to start a family with this woman and everything will be alright."

A man who goes into a marriage knowing fully well what he is risking, is a man who has prepared himself for the consequences of being burned, but that doesn't make him any less likely to be burned.

The safest men are the ones whose own value far exceeds that of their partners. Think superstar athlete with overweight female.

well but you have to see how marriage rates develop as well to see the context. Not that I now the one or the other. But just a decreasing rate of divorces could also be due to just a decreasing rate of marriages in the first place. One value alone without context says nearly nothing.

[–]yummyluckycharms0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some countries already have - canada no longer tracks marriage and divorce rates. Mind you, they track very little now anyways, which is a shame as they used to be awesome.

I blame political correctness as you can see how it slowly became unpopular to track certain things, which led to them being cut, which leads to less funding, and downward spiral ensues.

[–]TrainingTheBrain -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

I just realized that I have not given the slightest shit as to what the statistics are when it comes to marriage. I'm married and happily so.

When it comes to personal choices I don't give a damn about the numbers. I focus on me.

Whether the rates are rising or falling, how does that impact you?

I don't have a fucking clue why you would, I know why I do. You're the one commenting on someone else's situation like you know what the fuck you're talking about.

Your male hamster machine is in overdrive.

I'm not making my situation fit my own reality. I took a very realistic approach to getting to the point I'm at and I chose to marry someone who made it through my screening process and then I reproduced with her.

The other option of never having kids wasn't what I wanted. It's also the reason I don't comment on what other's should choose when it comes to family or marriage. An Alpha does as an Alpha wants, men saying blanket statements like your, "being married with two kids sounds absolutely miserable" is fucking weaksauce.

Maybe I could make it work, you have no idea. So why not ask how, or why I chose to instead of leading a pointless discussion?

Good for you. Stop defending marriage. It's enough to be a good example, but don't encourage people when you probably know how harmful it can be to men.
