I was BSing around with a man and a woman in my office. Man is married and ~50 and woman is 30s and has a serious girlfriend.

I was talking about a date I might go on tomorrow, and the guy was giving me a fun-loving hard time about my date's taste in men (stab at me).

I said " I don't apologize to women."

At that moment, the BSing stopped and the man and woman both laughed and said, "Do you ever want to get married? "

and then said something to the effect of "You're gonna have to start apologizing."

Which made me of course think back to TRP. The joke about marriage is that "husbands just apologize to your wives, give her the win and move on."

It's sad to me that my simple joke brought out this mentality of "you better change your ways if you want a successful marriage." and that men have to bend to the woman's will. It's upsetting that this is the universally accepted truth of the marriage bond, which I don't think it should be.
