Conversational english as spoken by native speakers naturally tends towards supplication, putting you into the beta box from the get go.
Consider these two phrases:
"let's..." "Can I...?"
they come up in all sorts of contexts. "Let's go to the movies," and "Can I have a glass of water?" would be two examples.
This is just how we talk. It isn't apparent how english constantly has one supplicating until one starts to speak Spanish.
If you literally translate the two phrases above into Spanish, you get, "dejanos ir," and "Puedo tener un vaso de agua." In latin countries NOBODY talks this way except gringos who don't know the language. And as gringos begin to learn Spanish it takes some time to break the habit. In Spanish you would only use the verbs "dejar" (to let) and (Poder) (to be able to) if you are asking for permission or talking about one's ability to do something.
Think about it. When you say "let's go" whose permission are you asking? When you say, "Can I have" or even, "May I have", whose permission are you asking?
In Spanish, you would say simply say in these situations, "vamos" or "quiero un vaso de agua." This is just how people talk.
How do these phrases translate literally? "Vamos" literally is, "we go" and "quiero un vaso de agua," is, "I want a glass of water". In English you sound like an asshole. Why does being direct make you sound like an asshole in english? Beats me, but its what turns girls on. Why do latin girls really seem to go for the assholes in the US? Because they speak their language. In their native countries it isn't really a thing. The kindest people in the world are just as direct, because that's how their lanuage is set up.
I realized this after arriving back in the states and trying to talk to American girls. The first time I got a girls number, we were texting, I was tired and I wanted to go to sleep and talk to her the next day. In Spanish I would simply say, "tengo sueno, manana platicamos," which is, "I'm tired, tomorrow we chat." but I couldn't figure out how to say it in English without sounding like a wimp, and english is my native tongue.
"Let's chat tomorrow" - ew no. "Want to chat tomorrow?" blech "Can we chat tomorrow?" pretty please? barf. Finally I had to settle with, "chat tomorrow?" I guess that works. But it took some gymnastics to get there and say a really simple thing without sounding like a chump.
So anyways, TL/DR: The english language does not lend itself towards straightforwardness, and therefore its all too easy to dry up a pussy as soon as you open your mouth. There is a reason why romance languages are sexy.
