I go out with the same group of people every Thursday out to bars late into the night. I met one of my plates there and she is a part of the group but last week I met an attractive South American girl and I chose her as my new target.

Before the night began I made my goal simply to ask for her number before I left so whether or not I actually got it was irrelevant (outcome independant). I briefly flirted with my target early in the night and spent the rest of the night talking and flirting with the other girls in the group.

It was getting late so I went back to the target and started talking to her for awhile. I was getting ready to leave so I made my move:

Me: I'm heading out now so put your number in my phone (held out my phone)

Her: You're sleeping with one of the other girls here

Me: It's complicated (still holding out phone)

Her: What does that mean?

Me: Ok. (walks away)

I leave the bar and start walking home satisfied because I had accomplished my goal. After a few blocks I hear my name being called from behind me. The target hurries across the street and says:

Her: So do you want to walk me home?

I was very surprised so I say yeah and we start walking towards her place. At this point I come to my senses about the fact that she rejected my advance earlier and she doesn't deserve me. So I say:

Me: Actually you're a really nice girl but I'm gonna head home.

She stood on the street corner speechless and I slept very well knowing that I approached and asked her for the number.
