I'll disagree here.

Having sex with a lot of women has absolutely nothing to do with how well somebody can perform as President. However, lying to somebody that one has made a legal and ethical commitment to may be indicative of their ethics, morals, and decision making in the future.

There is a difference.

Judging the number of women violating marriage by initiating divorces under legal and religious (ethical) oath one could argue that most women aren't cut out for politics using the same measure and the same logic to judge potential female candidates for the senate, presidency etc.

However I think the ladies who are in power are smart enough and manipulative enough to know that even if they do not love their husbands and cheat on him countless times, she must stay with him for the sake of appearances - there is more at stake than simple marital happiness, but power itself.

Marriage was always an instrument of power, the transference of wealth. Monogamy although naturally possible, enforced in its societal state is a leftover relic of christianity/religion. By and large, most of the species do not commit for life unless there is an institution such as religion to enforce overwhelming societal pressure.

Hollandes mistake here is getting caught and allowing his reputation to be tarnished, not the act itself. Everyone has dark secrets, those who criticise and speak mightly of ethics are often corrupted and concealing secrets themselves. The paparazzi and the twitter social activists are no better than a president or you or I. We're all human. Saying that, "proving your human" by falling circumspect to lust and cheating is not a valid reason for voting in a politician/improving his approval ratings, its preposterous "logic" and a sign of lowly developed minds making brash choices.

Thomas Jefferson remarked in one of his letters [paraphrasing] "women's suffrage is a noble ideal, but based on the hysterical ramblings of the women in Parisian salons, society is not ready (except for a few women like Abigail Adams)."

This was one of the few topics that was practically universally agreed upon by the Founding Fathers.

The Founding Fathers were extremely divided on slavery (even some who owned them opposed it).

This is a slippery slope. I'll cut through your bullshit for you. One of the ways I see making democracy more efficient is by requiring voters to pass a test of knowledge of the country's history of politics and both candidates' policies. This would weed out all the reckless voting. However, this is by definition not a democracy. It is closer to an aristocracy, where the elite end up comprising the majority of the voting block.

That would never work in America for two reasons. 1. half the country is full of idiots. 2.its similar to the "literacy" tests that were designed to bar blacks from voting in the jim crow south.
