I honestly feel bad for the guy but I can't help but laugh.

While I was over there, I missed her like crazy, and while I was having fun on the trip I couldn't wait to get home and see her again. We talked everyday through Viber, texting and calling, I constantly told her how much I missed her and wanted to see her. When I got back, I had planned to take her to the beach, have a bonfire under the stars and tell her that I loved her.

Instead he returned to this:

After she had fallen asleep, I went through her phone and read the messages from this number, which turned out to be her ex. I found out that while I was gone, they hung out often, saw movies, cuddled, and hooked up. In the messages I found conversations about how they hooked up, how she loved seeing him, and the amazing connection they had. She had said that even though I was the nicest guy in the world, she should be crazy about me but isn't, because the passion they had isn't there. He asked her if she felt paranoid about what they did (which she didn't), and how they should be careful about talking because they knew I wouldn't like it if I found out they were talking.

He decides to confront her, but her hamster goes fucking wild and spins faster than a F1 racing tire:

The next morning I called her out on it, told her what I did, and why I did it. Her defense was that she was "confused", she felt like before I left we had "stagnated", and she didn't think I loved her. I asked her if she was over him, and she said yes, and the only reason they still talk is because he was a huge part of her life and didn't want to lose a friend. She said she doesn't regret hooking up with him because by kissing him she knew she never wanted to be with him again.

Then she proceeds to lie to him:

I asked her how many times they hung out, she said they only got coffee and he kissed her - lie. They saw each other multiple times. I asked her if they saw a movie together - lie. They saw guardians of the galaxy and hung out afterwards. Eventually she told me that they saw a movie with a group of people, which I don't believe.

And it gets better even still...

Also during the trip, my friend hooked up with another woman and cheated on his girlfriend. I told my SO about it, how I felt about it, and she agreed it was a really shitty thing to do, and we both agreed that if he was going to do something like that on the trip he should have broken up with his girlfriend first. But after doing what she did, I find it pretty hypocritical.

After all this he's not hurling her into the sea, but asking if he should stay with her and "work through it":

Do I stay with her and work through it? I can forgive, but won't forget. Every time she goes home, I'll wonder if she's going to see him. Because if she does, I'll have no idea. I really do love her, and she says she loves me. But I feel the insecurity and jealousy that I feel from this will be hard to get over, and months down the road I don't want to randomly get mad out of nowhere about this and bring up an old fight.
