CNN - Kevin Powell, an author of some sort of book detailing the virtues of brainwashing and newspeak for boys and men, writes an essage on his journey to sit down and discuss with college boys what sort of rapists they all are. The results are, well, what you expect.

He basically determines that masculinity today is in a crisis because it's just so, well, boyish. Full of aggression and rambunctiousness, it needs to be curtailed to appease the feminine overlords, because, well, because it just seems unsightly to be masculine.

My task: work with young men on campus and get them to rethink what manhood means, in a way that would lead, hopefully, over time to their viewing women and girls as their equals.

Classic self-righteous authoritarian approach, lead with the premise that both women are equal in some way and that boys are apparently failing to understand that, so they need to be retrained to understand that, instead of given some sort of qualifying reason why they might come to that conclusion themselves.

It would be just as effective to go to boys and say "Hey, don't eat that chicken. Don't you know, chicken is your equal!"

But, I can't seem to have a conversation with a chicken...

I SAID EQUALS

But, most chickens don't even have hobbies, and the few that do aren't hobbies that I would ever have in common with them

I SAID EQUALS NOW LEARN IT

What evidence should change my mind? What has caused me to be so wrong about this?

EQUALS

The funny part is, his work isn't even that hard, thanks to feminist indoctrination, most college aged boys already agree with the premise that women are their equals. Nobody needs to be told, we all understand it, even if it's not empirically true. I mean, these boys probably never ponder why it is that "netflix" could even be considered a hobby, and why women chatter on about absolute inane bullshit when they get together. They just accept that they're somehow exactly the same and that these differences are nothing but their imagination.

Sighs of relief and phrases such as "leader," "protector," "caretaker," "responsible," "head of the house" fell from their mouths. Each session, I told them that they had just described my single mother and most women I've encountered in my life. These young men would grow quiet.

This is just utter nonsense. Leader (and head of the house) and follower are mutually exclusive. You can't simply have everybody leading if nobody is following. If every woman you've met were leaders, then by definition every man (or enough men) you've met must be followers, or nobody was leading at all, in which case you haven't met any leaders. It seems to me the conclusion you must reach from this is that women need to be taught that men are equals, why else would women have such a superiority complex?

I then asked them to name at least 10 women in American history. The usual list: Rosa Parks, Betsy Ross, Hillary Clinton, Helen Keller and Florence Nightingale, and they would inevitably stall. Pressed to tell me something about each of these women, only a handful could ever answer that question. When you don't know something about a group or people, any people, people different from you, it becomes very easy not to honor them as your equals, easy not to respect them, easy not to love them, easy not to see their lives as valuable as yours.

It has literally nothing to do with the fact that there are simply less notable women than there are men? I'd be hard pressed to name 10 white people who are good at basketball, but it's not because I don't like white people.

This is why when I think about manhood in our 21st-century context, I think instantly of mayhem, confusion, violence. These things have come in the form of one mass shooter after another, murdering people at work, on military bases, on college campuses, in grade schools. These things have come in the form of misogynistic comments from men as different in pedigree as billionaire presidential candidate Donald Trump and Grammy Award-winning rapper T.I. These things have come in the form of my travel as a speaker and activist, reading local newspaper stories of men and boys, more aggressively and brutally than ever, raping or killing women and girls, oftentimes their girlfriends or wives.

What fucking planet does he live on? We live in one of the safest societies in the history of our planet, with women enjoying the best protection and privilege ever known to mankind. And he thinks that men are violent anarchists? Why did these college boys sit down and listen to him instead of taping him up, drenching him in gasoline and lighting him up, if they are so dedicated to mayhem?

It is clear to me that manhood in this nation is in deep crisis, our growth stunted at epidemic proportions

If your measuring stick is how to become a perfect woman, then yes, manhood is in a crisis. Only a minor percentage of men have managed to grow tits, but we're working on it. Our growth is indeed stunted.

But back to reality, if we were to say that growth of men is actually stunted, then we do require a measuring stick, and this he completely fails to provide. Who is it that we are compared to? Is it women? It may clearly be so. Men simply cannot perform like women, for instance all those great founding mothers who fought for our countries independence. All those amazing female philosophers that gave us reason, and the great female mathematicians that gave us theorems to build upon. The great female physicists that gave us Newtonian physics and relativity. The great woman who risked her life to declare the earth round or the sun the center of the system!

When we brace ourselves for the next mass murder, we are quick to cite gun control and mental illness, but rarely do we ask, Why are the overwhelming majority of these mass shooters men?

It's interesting to note that in the same piece he tries to argue women are equal to men, he also argues for female superiority. Women are our equals! So why are men doing such a hard job living up to women's example?

He notes that men are committing mass murders, and this is actually a very interesting point that the media should investigate. Let's analyze this for a second:

These violent chumps leave manifestos detailing their frustration with their lack of success with women, or their heartbreak from the betrayal of the women they love, or their outright lack of social acceptance...

And Mrs. Powell here thinks the problem is that we haven't ostracized them enough?

BRILLIANT FUCKING DEDUCTION WATSON, now I can finally see why you think men are stunted. Because that's some of the worst logic I've ever seen.

I spent many restless nights pondering the irony of this part of my activism. I grew up as most heterosexual boys did: I played every sport possible. I learned early on the rite-of-passage of seeing girls as sexual objects, as playthings, as anything except my equal. I fought because boys were taught to fight, be rough, antagonistic, to never show weakness, not even to cry, at least not in public. I digested every kind of pop cultural icon one could name, on television, in movies, in books, in my beloved hip-hop culture, who represented the mighty male figure that armies of us were instructed we must become.

This behavior led to catastrophic results for me. I had no clue how to express a balance of emotions for many years: It was either thunderous silence or raw explosions of rage.

Now we see the problem, his unresolved issues are men's unresolved issues. If I didn't know any better I'd say this level of projection is only achievable by... women! Thank god he's aspired to such great heights.

I did not know how to give love to myself or women and girls, and by the time I got to college, I merely did what other young males on my campus did: I had sex as casually as I slipped on my jeans and sneakers, and often did not give much thought to the woman on the receiving end.

Whoops, he just put down his cards for all to see. Casual sex with women is wrong, because they need commitment. Now we can see his crusade for what it is.

Can't women enjoy casual sex? Yes. Is it wrong for them to do so without commitment? No, they're free to do what they want with their bodies.

Can a man enjoy casual sex? No, women are more than a series of holes, you misogynist fuck!

A double standard. And he's trying to sell it to us. It reminds me of a lobbyist on capitol hill... "What's good for big oil is good for the country..."

Finally, I have many men say to me that they respect women. Respect is not enough at this stage, even if you are not the kind of man who would ever call a woman the b word, or make disrespectful or derogatory declarations about what women and girls can and cannot do, or should and should not do. Even if you would never punch, kick, bite, spit on or fight a woman, or rape a woman, stab or shoot and murder a woman, you have men and boys in your family, in your community, in your fraternity or political group or spiritual institution, or in your workplace or places of play, who do or have done these things. And when you say nothing at all, you become just as guilty.

You heard it here, folks. You can't just respect women (as you would a man, sort of like an equal or something). No, you must take personal responsibility for every black, jew, white male, you are guilty of their crimes. Their crime, of course, being an underdeveloped woman who merely makes society function.
