Endocrine disruptors are compounds which exert an effect on the body's endocrine system producing adverse reactions. As other posters have covered many times before, keeping your testosterone high is an absolutely crucial step in keeping an alpha male mentality.

One major problem in modern society is endocrine disruption coming from the packaging in which we store food. Estrogenic endocrine disruptors activate estrogen receptors in your male body. This will cause lowered testosterone, lowered fertility and increased risk of some cancers. Healthy men have low estrogen levels, dramatically lower than women, so estrogenic endocrine disruptors affect men disproportionately.

Many of you know the plastic product biphenol A (BPA) has estrogenic activity (EA) and is an endocrine disruptor. What you might not have known is that the "BPA-free" replacement plastic products are just as bad. According to the Yang et al study above, most common replacements have estrogenic activity. They measured estrogenic activity greater than 15% of estradiol's (aka "estrogen") in pre-packaged food wrappers, baby bottles and more. They tested over 500 commercially available plastic products, finding most of them to have estrogenic activity.

They further subjected these plastics to common stressors: UV light, autoclaving (moist heat, i.e. dishwasher) and microwave radiation. These stressors were found to increase EA by increasing the leaching of chemicals with EA. Cracks, wear and tear and repeatedly exposure to stressors are going to cause your plastic containers to leach more estrogenic chemicals into your food. Note in the study that these stressors were not necessary for leaching to occur, they just made it worse.

Despite this, the researchers found that polypropylene, low-desnsity polyethylene and high density polyethylene do not have estrogenic activity. Notably, these polymers are all flexible. For example, Ziploc Freezer Bags are made from low-density polyethylene. FoodSaver bags are made from polyethylene glycol and nylon.

TL:DR; To minimize endocrine disruption and minimize xenoestrogens in your system, avoid rigid Tupperware-style plastic food containers and utilize polypropylene or polyethylene flexible bags, or glass containers.
