I think it's perfectly possible for an alpha to raise an alpha child that becomes beta around women. Effectively the son sounds like he was well on his way to living his own life when he chose to be homeless, bad choice or not he made a choice and lived it.

Alpha traits don't make a great father, even alpha DHVs. Socially adept, strong, smart... these don't raise kids by themselves (geniuses can make terrible fucking parents. musclemen can make terrible fucking parents, etc etc).
This is where most people get confused. Good father traits are positive beta DHVs... reliable, makes a lot of money, loving.
I'd say it's confusing because great fathers take alpha DHVs together with beta DHVs, min/maxxing them for the best benefit of the family.
My original statement is that being alpha doesn't necessarily lend themselves to being a great or even a good father. People instantly think I'm dogging the concept of an alpha altogether and respond with a "NOT ON MY FUCKING REDDIT."

What you're telling me is that you've changed the definition of "alpha" to mean what you want: a smart, reliable friend that is good to people around them. That is not what an alpha is. The second two traits you mentioned are actually beta traits... and those are good traits to have.
Don't make the mistake that a ton of people have around here and think that just because someone is beta means that it's necessarily bad.
I'll start from the beginning because you seem like you care.
Here are some examples of alpha traits:
Strong, smart, steadfast, passionate, composed, natural leader, unafraid, doesn't need validation.
These are good things. But then they forget some of the negative alpha traits:
Unreliable, violent, egotistic, lacking of empathy, unapologetic, reckless, stubborn.
Now, when I say an alpha lend itself to being a good father, it's because it doesn't. If you saw a muscleman that solved physics problems for breakfast before heading to his job as President of the United States... what about this equation means he's a good father?
Now, here are some positive beta traits:
Honest, giving, safe, secure, puts other people first, empathic, makes a ton of money, etc.
Negative beta traits (which a lot of times can be just positive beta, just amplified):
Needy, boring, dramatic, loser.
