If you're not up to speed, Matt Taylor scientist at the European Space Agency who helped land a probe on a comet, was wearing a tattoo art styled shirt made by his friend, which featured attractive women on it. Feminists got up in arms about how wearing that shirt was ostracising women. They bullied him. He eventually apologised, while crying. Feminists cheered that he cried, but weren't happy with his apology. They wanted more.

Apologising never does you any good, (unless it's a carefully worded press release from your PR department), it just makes you look weak and the people demanding the apology, on seeing this weakness, start trying to exert more control over you. It's like inviting a vampire into your house.

Even if you actually are sorry, don't apologise. It's an expression of shame, it means you think you're beneath the person you're apologising to. The only thing you do if you're sorry is not repeat whatever it is that you're sorry for. (And obviously, if you're not sorry and someone wants an apology, disregard and do it again if you like).
