This is my take on pornography, mixed with some of the opinions of Robert A. Glover in No More Mr. Nice Guy. I've been avoiding making this post for a while(cringe), but it pops up a lot in AskTRP.

Widely available pornography was only recently introduced to the human species, and we aren't equipped to adapt to it in a healthy manner(think: gluten), from grotesque shit an average person would never be exposed to, to developing the habit of zoning out and being unconnected to your body during sexual acts. Not to mention, being comfortable with your body and your performance is key to unlocking a healthy RP mindset.

This is contrary to the idea of NoFap in that NoFap is done in cycles(from what I understand), and suggests masturbation itself is the problem. It's not. Masturbation is older than the human species(while porn on your phone is a decade old), and everybody does it. As with everything, it needs to be moderated.

First law: Stop.

You don't have to watch pornography to get off. It can take a while, but shaking hands with the president can be an enjoyable experience without fantasies or porn, with your mind firmly in the now. Zoning out(through porn) nurtures performance issues in the bedroom(delayed orgasm or not getting it up at all) and can expose you to some grotesque shit.

Second law: perverse shit is exciting.

No, you aren't broken because you spanked it to a 50 y/o woman being brutally gagged by three black guys, or usually only spank it to Thai teens with glasses and small feet. Perverse shit is just exciting: it's no more complicated than that. You're normal.

Breaking Free Activity #38

Set aside a time to practice healthy masturbation. Choose a comfortable place where you will be undisturbed. Practice by looking at yourself and touching yourself without using pornography or fantasy. Pay attention to how it feels to experience your sexuality without any goals or agendas(such as having an orgasm). Also observe any tendency to distract yourself from what you are experiencing(going into fantasy, becoming goal-oriented, having distracting thoughts, loss of physical sensation). Just observe these experiences and use them as information about your shame and fear.

Since I touched on "performance issues", I'll include the other things that cause E.D. in average dudes:

  • She's fat/unattractive. Your body is telling you something.

  • Condom.

  • She's loose and you feel nearly nothing.

  • Environmental issues, i.e. the place you're trying to perform(her fucking room is pink, there's a smell, the movie playing in the background is too loud), or the circumstances of how you got here are effecting your performance.

This is another one of my posts that I'm using to link to common inquiries on askTRP.
