Question for TRP. Where does the line blur between a woman wanting a good life for her kids vs. being a gold digger?

I disagree with the notion of a man's income determining the quality of life for his children. IMO, the best thing a woman can do to ensure the best life for her children is to marry a man who would make the best father. A man who is a strong leader, a wise decision-maker, and a consistent disciplinarian fits this bill, and this is true regardless of that man's income. In other words, I've known plenty of lower-class men whose children are doing great for themselves, and plenty of wealthy men whose children are worthless.

All of that being said, a woman with the mindset of, "We need X amount of dollars to make sure our children have a good life" (especially if she insists X needs to be more than what she has currently) is not someone who has the best interests of her children at heart. She feels the need to increase her quality of life and is post-rationalizing by claiming it's for her children.

A woman wanting a good life for her kids wouldn't consider a divorce unless the husband was abusive or useless.

Gold-diggers are primarily concerned with status objects, frills, luxuries, things that have no use value, etc.

It's not enough for them to be fed, clothed, housed in a safe neighborhood, and have all the necessities provided. They feel like losers and don't appreciate what they have. They always want more.

By contrast, there are women who are practical and realize that unless more money is earned, the proto-family is one emergency away from bankruptcy. Attempts to get the man to rectify the situation fail, and the woman herself lacks the competency to bring in money. Such women are easy prey for guys with money.

However, the economy has become grossly unfair. People slave their whole lives and barely earn anything for their time. The environment that all men face now is competition from women, competition from machines, competition from men more desperate than them who will work for less than them, men living in cheap labor countries, and slaves (prisoners, cult-members, people living in totalitarian societies). It's not an economy conducive for wealth generation.

Women are excellent about wrapping their own needs and happiness in the needs of their children. She needs a big house in a nice neighborhood "for the children", a big SUV "for the children", and lavish vacations "for the children." That's all BS. You build a good life for your children with effort, not money. Any woman who points to money as a problem in her marriage is a gold digger.

If a man's not supposed to judge a woman for being fat, having a sexually adventurous past, or being a single mother, then it's a fair corollary to say that women should be forbidden from choosing men based on their salaries and possessions. If a man isn't rich, but a woman feels that magic blue pill spark toward him, she should forget anything stupid, shallow, or logical and just marry him anyway. And learn to live within his means.

Fun aside, it may be splitting hairs, but there's an ideological difference between, "I'm pregnant, and my husband and I don't earn enough to provide a good life for our child," and "I choose who to go home with at clubs based solely on how they dress, the car they show up in, and how many free drinks they buy me, and string this 'relationship' along for as many free meals as I can get."

The line is that this woman, even in her search for resources for her children, must understand that a TRADE must occur. The man who offers her a home and pays for her bastards private school is going to be looking for a certain caliber of wife who provides an equal amount to which he provides for her. For instance, a woman who is looking for a beta bucks for her kids is in the right if she is ALSO working hard to provide for them, and willing to go above and beyond in terms of helping out around the house where she can, being feminine, sexual, etc.

A woman who is looking for everything must be willing to give out the equal. Her life will take a 100% turn for the improvement (as will her kids) if a good quality, upper-middle class guy takes her aboard. So a non-parasitic woman will endeavor to contribute the same. If this single mother with kids in question has no ability to get her own career going, then she ought to be at least being a stellar housewife and mother.

The line is entitlement. Do you feel you should be "getting" more than you are giving? Then you're on the wrong side of the line - gold digger. Are you willing and truly able to enhance the man's quality of life as much as he will be enhancing yours? Do you have genuine respect and love and at least a little tingles for this man, enough to feasibly stay loyal to him? Then you are on the right side of the line (as much as you can be as a single mother).

If she spends the money they make on unnecessary or selfish things. I've never known a golddigger that truly cared more about someone other than herself.

If she doesn't like the guy but is actually spending his money on the kids she is a prostitute, albeit a maternal one.

To your first example, absolutely not. Sounds like a typical couple who want to raise a family and provide the best they can for that family.

A man, and a reasonable female, should always want to keep pushing forward in their lives and make it better, whether that is making more money, trying to save / live comfortably, etc.. So just because a couple is pushing to make more income doesn't make the woman in this case an auto-gold digger.

It's about looking at the facts. The sort of woman involved (spender or frugal?) and the numbers when you run them. If she says you need to go from 100k to 250k and it's not out of actual necessity, sounds like gold digging. If it's because you need room to have the family you want to have and you do need X amount more, it's difficult to say it's an unjustified statement.
