The first rule of the fight club is you do not talk about the fight club. We have seen that sentence repeated in this subreddit more times than I can count. As has been discussed other times, it is unwise to explicitly talk favourably of the TRP in public.

Some of you will have got the notification that reddit released its official app in April, it seems it's getting released at different times in different parts of the world. If you choose to install it, be aware that it has the permission to gather identity data, such as the phone number. Hence, for those who are averse to getting identified with TRP for obvious reasons, it would be best not to use it to browse TRP, not even with a separate username.

We don't know if Reddit is going to gather phone numbers and associate them with user accounts. But if it did and that info was leaked, you can guess what would happen. This is not the case with browsers and IPs since tracking that information back to a person is significantly harder than a phone number.

So as tempting as using the app might seem for convenience, it would be best to stick with browsers.
