There is a "new masculinity" wherein women & betas re-label traditional markers of male success as "sexist" or "divisive". It's a comforting mechanism by which losers will try to redefine failure as success and success as wrong.

I get in to this argument with feminists with their "Blarg only 6% of men are stay at home fathers Blarg"

I'm surprised it's that high since every marriage that had stay at home father or a "house husband" that I have seen has always ended in divorce with the women either becoming an abusive bitter wife or just cheating and then leaving him ( or in my sister's case "discovering" she was a lesbian at 38 years of age ) .

So I assume that the stats are so low for all of the things of - men doing the majority of house work -- men being house husbands -- men being stay at home fathers - Is really because any couple that tries it gets divorced soon after so the number can't rise above those who are just entering their first year or two .

Man, this is a bit unrelated but I really hate how sex is often portrayed as a "reward" for men, specially married men.

I'm not married so maybe that's why I don't get it. Do women lose sexual desire after marriage or what?

Why are men always portrayed as sex-hungry pigs and women are innocent children who don't have sexual desires and only "give" it to men as a "reward" for having been good boys recently?

That's actually pretty text book using sex as a manipulation tool. Your wife won't have sex with you if you make a mess? That's pretty fucked up, in my opinion. Sex should not be withheld as a punishment. If she just doesn't feel like it, that's one thing. But to not have sex as a direct result of something you did, instead of because she doesn't want to, simply as a means to punish you for it...fuck that. You're not a child, she shouldn't be putting you in sexual time out.

At the end of the day, sex should be a mutually enjoyable intimate way for you to express your love to each other. It should be something you do because you both want to, and it should definitely not ever be "used" for punishment or reward. Either one is taking that natural, loving experience and turning into a tool. And fuck being with anyone who is going to use sex with me for their own emotional manipulations.

Be careful man. You're justifying her childish behavior for her, and rationalizing it. You're not even questioning it, which should scare you once you realize that. I've dated girls who still had sex with me even if we were mad at each other, or they were unhappy about something else. They kept sex where it belongs, and out of areas it didn't. They had sex with me because they wanted to have sex, because they want that intimate closeness in our relationship. Don't let arguably the most important aspect of your relationship lose that intimacy and meaningfulness. Sex is good for a relationship when it's good, and it's very bad for it when it's bad

[–]zer0nix 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If she just doesn't feel like it, that's one thing.

as if guys are ever in the mood to deal with spiders, home maintainance, etc... we like the results but that doesn't mean that we want to get off of our ass to do it. we do it because we want to make our partners happy and they appreciate it.

it's about making the other person happy. if your partner doesn't understand that, she's not really a loving partner.

[–]riptaway 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

My whole point was that sex shouldn't be based on or related to other aspects of your relationship and lives. All that stuff you said shouldn't factor into whether or not you have sex. It's completely separate. Not wanting to deal with spiders doesn't have anything to do with not wanting to have sex. It shouldn't be a chore. Plenty of times I haven't felt like having sex, whether I was tired or whatever. Sometimes I did, just to make her happy. Sometimes she didn't feel like having sex and she still did, just to make me happy. But there's nothing wrong with not wanting to have sex at that particular moment, and it definitely shouldn't feel like an obligation. That sounds pretty messed up to me, actually. If she wants to fuck you even though she doesn't feel like it, just to make you happy, more power to her. If not, that isn't necessarily not being a loving partner. I think you have it twisted. Being a loving partner means accepting a person, even if they aren't doing what you want to all of the time. What if you wanted to have sex 5 times a day, and she was only willing to do it thrice? She's not a loving partner? Be careful with such an arbitrary statement about a very complex thing

[–]zer0nix -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Being a loving partner means accepting a person,

i think there's a difference between loving a person and being loving towards them.

loving a person is, like you say, appreciating them and all their nuances. being loving -to me- means to see that they are cared for and to do whatever would make them prosperous and happy. for guys, that means having good access to sex with a loved one.

What if you wanted to have sex 5 times a day, and she was only willing to do it thrice? She's not a loving partner?

quote from my post:

it's about making the other person happy. if your partner doesn't understand that, she's not really a loving partner.

it's not just about the followthrough; if either partner simply cannot understand that being in love means more than just wanting to be with them and that it also means wanting to see them prosperous and happy then i don't think they are really loving partners.

idunno. does that really sound like a twisted version of love?

also, i know you're trying to use a silly example there but honestly 5 fucks a day is entirely within reason. if you would have said 15 on the other hand, that would be approaching a level of difficulty that is difficult to sustain.

sex should be a mutually enjoyable intimate way for you to express your love to each other.

what you just described here is the ideal that is called making love. having sex with someone you love on a deep level really is a different thing from just satiating lust. i like to use the words 'making love' and 'fucking' to differentiate between the two. having one does not exclude or deny the other. making love is deeply fulfilling but a lot of young guys are still going to want to satisfy that animal part of them that just wants to get their fuck on.

ps: i get and agree with the point you were making. however, with sex i think there's a difference between someone who doesn't want to initiate and someone who just doesn't enjoy it. the former case tends to be more common, where a lot of girls somehow don't want to initiate but then they enjoy themselves when they're in the act. i think those girls should maybe consider their guys feelings (foreplay is not enough). if the girl doesn't like sex at all, that's kind of a different (serious) issue and i'm not suggesting that they should put out.

[–]riptaway -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's obvious you do not have sex regularly, or at all. Maybe a few unlucky girls back in college. You're full of shit, and no wonder you're on TRP. You've made every girl who was into you miserable, and now you want to blame them

[–]Clauderoughly 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's generally what fucked up, feminist brainwashed women do.

See, they are deeply insecure and they don't see themselves as having any sort of value apart from what's between their legs, so they use sex as currency.

These are usually women who rode the cock roundabout too much, and it's a learned behavior.

Feminism has taught them that being feminine and agreeable has zero value (the opposite is true) so they default to using sex as currency to get what they want.

Any woman who uses sex as a reward, should be dropped like a hot rock.

My wife tried this once, and told her off about it. Explained that I was not some sort of machine that was to be "serviced" when I did some sort of good thing.

She made an honest mistake because that's what the world around her had taught her.

Once she saw it from my point of view she was very apologetic and it's never happened since.

We have sex because we wanna fuck, not as some sort of fucked up reward system

[–]riptaway 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've had several girlfriends that wanted sex more often than I did. I've dated several girls who wanted sex less often. I think it's just a person to person thing. But any woman who sees sex as a tool or weapon to use on a guy is a woman who won't get the chance to from me. That is complete and utter bullshit and no matter how long it's been, I won't have sex used like that. Doubly so for relationships. Not that I would ever get into one with a girl who thinks and acts that way.

But just to reiterate, I have been in long term relationships where she wanted sex regularly, even daily, even after a year. It's possible, they're out there.

[–]mctoasterson 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is a ridiculous concept to us, but I have read some studies indicating that women's sex drive almost universally decreases over the span of a relationship (one study said about 4% per month, and you can imagine how that adds up rather quickly over many years). I have also heard a stat claiming a large percentage of lesbian couples stop having sex entirely after a certain point in the relationship.

Obviously there must be exceptions to this pattern because there are old and long-married people who seem to buck the trend and fuck like rabbits. However the trend itself seems to be valid and would explain why women see it as something they do mostly for the man instead of themselves.

Fuck and when I point this shit out in MR, that house husbands get nothing but misery and divorce I get down voted.

Men want women who act like feminine women

Women want men who act like masculine men

Gender roles are a GOOD THING!

Why is this so hard to understand ?

[–]Renegard24 points 12 years ago* [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

It's been pointed out here before, but MensRights has largely turned into the male equivalent of Feminism, people upset that they still have to abide by their gender roles. The frustration is understandable in my opinion, since western women have sacrificed their gender roles on the alter of modernity, but men sacrificing their gender roles is only going to lead to the same thing as women sacrificing their gender roles, that is complete disaster.

[–]Fsoprokon 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men want an equal society. Sticking to definitions isn't helping anybody. They're useful tools until we transcend them. The problem is that some very ignorant people and movements have arisen from this natural progression. Our concern, as men, should be to help the transition by advancing but defending the natural progress from people with what I would call mental illness, those that seize power for their own gratification.

Men, and women, should be free to do what they want. What RedPill identifies is that men are not equal, and that's why we have so many problems.

[–]TookThePillThatsRed -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm kind off out of place here in that I think in the perfect world, everyone should try their best to better humanity. I don't like how being feminine is synonymous with being childlike. A woman has a job which is to please her man.

[–]zer0nix 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't like how being feminine is synonymous with being childlike.

that's really a american/consumerist phenomenon.

in the east, women are expected to maintain the house, raise the children, teach the children how to write, present themselves and do math (because public education is shit) and handle the finances of the house as well as make financial investments. basically, they maintain the nest and raise the children while the men go out to earn money and defend the house.

this also holds true in many parts of europe (somehow i have the expectation that britain is an exception) and in more traditional (small t) households.

[–]TRP Vanguardnicethingyoucanthave 40 points41 points42 points 12 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Gender roles are a GOOD THING! Why is this so hard to understand ?

There are two things going on:

(1) People think you're making the moralistic fallacy. In other words, they think you're going to say, "because this is a good thing, it must be The Right Way (tm) and therefore we should shame people who buck the trend."

But you're not saying that.

And honestly, the reason they think you're saying it is because it's what they say about the things they believe. Take feminism for example. They don't just say, "feminism is a good thing" they go on to say, "and anyone who disagrees is morally inferior and should face consequences."

They don't accept people who disagree with them, so they assume you don't either.

(2) There is a long and detailed narrative about gender roles that says they're mostly good for men and uniformly bad for women. It's been built up over generations. "Women are and always have been oppressed" is a meme. So, look at it from their perspective. You're essentially saying, "oppression is a GOOD THING" - that's what they hear you saying anyway.

[–]TRP VanguardVZPurp 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[+]1Ill_mumble_that -7 points-6 points-5 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Feminism should have ended the moment women were globally allowed to own property.

I'm fine with them voting, but the voting system needs to be reformed to the point where if you don't file a income tax statement every year then you don't get to vote. There is just way too much entitled bullshit with how it is right now.

[–]rhettdu 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

people who don't pay income tax don't get a vote? I can see some very angry seniors, people on middle to low income and investors who pay capital gains tax.

(unless you're including filling it in to say you don't need to pay anything)

[–]1Ill_mumble_that 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah I don't have the solution down pact yet. The general idea is to prevent people that aren't paying taxes from voting.

In the case of seniors, I'm not sure. They paid in their whole life and voted their whole life, if they stop paying in and retire should they not be able to vote? Maybe that would be best. They are relying on the younger folks to keep everything from crashing anyway - time to hand over the reigns.

Paying capital gains tax is still paying tax, so rich people could vote.

[–]rhettdu 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Capital Gains, like Payroll tax, is a tax, but not income tax.

If it's about paying any tax, well (just about) everyone pays sales tax.

I do however like the idea of recognition for paying your taxes in full (still not sure on what). Tax dodging is unpatriotic and we should call it that.

Remember that the intellectual leaders of feminism have always been angry lesbians.

They have wanted to destroy the traditional family, because what ever replaced it would benefit them much more.

Fuck and when I point this shit out in MR, than house husbands get nothing but misery and divorce I get down voted.

I'd argue that one of the reasons why the men's rights movement is ineffective is because it's filled with a bunch of beta guys who whine and complain constantly about gender roles (among other things) but do nothing about it.

Regarding the article, it makes perfect sense to me. It's not to say that a man can't help out cleaning up around the house occasionally but it shouldn't be his primary job. While the guy is out mowing the lawn, painting, repairing, taking care of the car, etc... the woman should be cleaning.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

But those chores don't count because he likes doing them!

[–]Rastiln -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not too convinced by that. I'm usually far more attracted to women who share some "masculine" traits. I'm not that great with car repair, but I loved that an ex of mine could fix it for me. Conversely, I make some damn good food, and women seem to enjoy that quite a bit.

[–]Clauderoughly 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

yeah but you are confusing skills with traits.

I cook a lot, and I love cooking.

My wife doesn't see that as a bad thing.

You can have a woman who can do car work and be a bit of a petrol head, but she needs to still have her feminine side.

An example of "bad" would be is if you were both car enthusiasts and she was actively trying to compete with you on the subject, and insist on being dominant.

Women should always be the submissive, following partner in the relationship, other wise it falls apart.

[+]Rastiln -6 points-5 points-4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't see myself or my partner as particularly submissive or dominant. However, we've only been together two years. It's not like I've had decades of experience.

[–]AcidentallyMyAccount -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would say be careful assuming correlation means causation, especially in a self report study. The correlation between tasks and sex might have something to do with other factors, for example testosterone and estrogen levels making them more likely to both perform gender specific roles and have more sex, or that they are more likely to self report the gender specific acts and downplay their involvement in non-traditional tasks. It's not solid proof that "house husbands get nothing but misery and divorce" at all.

[–]captshady 24 points25 points26 points 12 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

For those of you red-pillers over 30. Post this on facebook. Watch how many women will say "Ohhh, I don't know about that. I know when MY man does housework, I get ... oh sooo horny". Which is complete and total bullshit, and a huge massive shit test. What I find unfathomable is women's inherent drive to push their men into roles they'll find less attractive, and then complain once their marriage disolves, or they get cheated on.

Edit: Spelling

[–]TRP VanguardVZPurp 17 points18 points19 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They want an authority figure. Do you have the balls to call her out on her bullshit? If not, you failed the test. It's how they operate. There is a conscious disconnect. They will say one set of words, but act completely contrary to them.

Whether you just met her, are in a relationship with her, or have married her; this function never disappears.

[–]riptaway 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Damn, that's some stone cold truth. Women put so much pressure on to guys to be a certain way and then they lose attraction to them when guys end up conforming to their "ideal". Then the woman cheats with a guy who isn't her ideal, or the relationship just falls apart naturally. That should be written down somewhere

I'm fairly certain this has been written down many many times over the years. We're not discovering new stuff here, only rediscovering what men thousands of years ago have known.

[–]arguile65 16 points17 points18 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

In my relationship, my wife feels loved and supported/affirmed when I share in the cooking and cleaning around the house. She feels excited or aroused when I do repairs, or yard work, or other manly things.

That's why I do both!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So I should marry a women so she gets the privilege of doing nothing again under the vague rational that she might have sex with me someday?

[–]arguile65 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You should marry a woman who knows you and respects you. You should marry a woman you love and want to spend your life with. You should do what needs to be done to cultivate a strong, and functional relationship with your spouse. A marriage like this will grow to the point that your needs become her needs, and her needs become yours. At which point the frequency of sex will find a natural rhythm that meets the needs of both. That frequency will naturally change as the seasons of life change, but at that point frequency becomes much less critical.

An obvious thing that humanity has known for thousands of years, confirmed today by science. Feminists not happy. More at 11.

[–]mctoasterson 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Inversely then, if your girlfriend/wife is the primary breadwinner, both of your net happiness is going to be impacted in a negative way.

I asked about this in /r/askTRP once and got a less than satisfactory answer. The question still remains, how can you assert dominance if there is a power imbalance in which your female partner earns the majority of your combined incomes? I would argue it makes it almost impossible to institute TRP principles in other facets of your relationship. You can try to compensate by taking care of housework and a million other things, and your partner might seem appreciative but she will be much much less attracted to you.

Then you assert your dominance in other ways.

You need to make her want to submit to your decisions, based on good decisions and leadership.

As crude as it sounds, the pimp / hoe model works well. If you think about it the girls do all earning but the pimp makes the decisions.

If she is out earning you though, you have chronic relationship problems. Short answer is to take the manly role and start being the bread winner again.

Actually, this situation can work wonders for the relationship. If you are married w/o a prenup, she has a large incentive to avoid divorce, due to her possibly paying palimony.

But regardless of that, lets look at the core of the relationship. Did you start, from day one, asserting your frame? Did you establish that you managed the finances of the family? Did you set percentages/amounts to be transferred to savings to meet your savings goals? Did you establish appropriate spending habits? When conflicts arise, and no compromise can be reached, do you lay down the law and make the decision for both of you?

If you laid all of this down, from the beginning, her making more money only means that much more of it goes to your savings/retirement account.

If you didn't, then she can spend it on whatever frivolous nonsense she wishes, without regard to you, or your decisions. If you don't manage the finances from the beginning, she will not respect you.

If she wants the house cleaned she can do it herself. Clean up your messes but not hers, expect that she takes care of her own shit and punish her when she doesn't. If you try the stay-at-home dad routine while the kids are under 3 or so, you must be even more vigilant about asserting your dominance.

Power comes from decisions, not from work.
Dominate by deciding how her money is spent.

So funny that people have to do a study to figure out what is common sense to TRP:

Men initiate sex more often and are turned on more by a woman who does her household duties, while women are more turned on and are receptive to sex when their husbands act like men, which means not acting like a wife.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Further proven by the fact that men consistently cheat with women who are more feminine than their wives and women consistently cheat with men who are more masculine than their husbands.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Citation? I have heard that men who cheat, cheat around, while women who cheat, cheat up.

You can also consider "up" in the context of hypergamy as cheating "up" with a male who displays more beneficial traits. Being more masculine or exhibiting more alpha behaviour is certainly cheating up if a woman has been dating a supplicating beta.

Now lets see 100 ways feminists will hamster their way out of this one ;)

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

If you start washing cups at a party, for instance, women will drool over you. The novelty of a man doing women's work is temporarily and only slightly effective. But it wears off, and fast. If you become the boyfriend/guy friend who washes the dishes, or whatever, you become an unsexy and useful beta tool. So it's up to you if you want to pepper in some extremely brief, one-off, unprompted dish washing into your game if you're at a party with a lot of women.

Actually, I'd like to see a proper field report on this tactic.

Washing the dishes of the party doesn't get women drooling because you are doing chores. They like it because you are taking charge of your party and keeping it going.

Example: cleaning the barware during the night, cutting lemons, filling ice containers, and loading beer in the cooler is good. Doing the dishes at the end of the night is bad.

Damn good call. This is exactly it.

[–]Kepaso 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yeah everybody likes a guy washing dishes, men and woman. They both see you as a nice guy, but the women won t see you as sexy

[–]Clauderoughly 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

women will drool over you.

No, they don't.

You are mistaking "drool" for painting "sucker" on your back and women seeing a beta male they can actively exploit for resources.

[–]riptaway 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah. They may appreciate it for what it is, but they don't find it sexually attractive. There's a difference between what a girl thinks she wants a guy to do, and what actually gets her panties wet

Reminds me of this video of Womens motocross

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

while hilarious, I don't see the connection

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's a correlation, but no statement of causation was made.

Does sticking to gender-traditional work lead to more sex? (A -> B)
or do couples who aren't fucked in the head by feminism have more sex and also stick to gender-traditional work? (C -> A , B)

Typically for journalism, the language of the article focuses on (A -> B) which is a cum hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy.

A focus on the wrong thing will confuse people. Stupid couples (i.e. the masses) will talk about chores as if it's the linchpin, while it's just an effect.

This is all fine and dandy, but why would I get with a woman that is so easily defined by gender roles? If I'm a man, I'm going to get an equal, not a trophy. I could just as easily fuck around as she can, so what's the big deal? Bring it. Withhold affection, see how long that lasts.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I understand the point that traditional gender roles are important. I also subscribe to the theory that women are attracted to men that are clean and tidy. I do my fair share of housework and I'm fucking my wife, my mistress and recently got a bj from the neighbor. I guess she thinks my vacuum cleaner's sexy.

[–]Kellermann -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have always said so

[–]frankiecruz -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I know this isn't really the place for me, but I personally am totally turned on by a man that does housework, and I'm far more likely to pay back housework help with sexual favors. This may be a point that is differentiated before and after marriage--I think most men will get MORE sex in the beginning of a relationship if they do housework, but that may change over time.

[–]niceguy_gone_cad 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Pay back with sexual favors"...that has a very ugly name.
