I think true alphas are too busy making money and fucking women to be reading shit like this on /r/TheRedPill.
In any event, this parable is misleading. Self-confidence is a necessary condition for true alpha status, but it is not "sufficient". Confidence will enable you to seduce many women, sure, but there has to be some alpha substance (ie not just a facade) for attractive women to actively try to seduce YOU. That's the true definition of alpha, surely.
Also true alphas are recognised as such (albeit grudgingly) by other men, so the Mr. Nobody in this story didn't seduce the girl or get the respect of the other men.

sigh so true. I am a tall and gorgeous dude who trains MMA. All women are drawn to me and give me intense looks of lust and try to position themselves close to me hoping I make a move.
As soon as my timid personality comes out, or I show submissive body language, they do a 180 and some of them actually get legitimately angry at me as if I had rejected them. Some get afraid and assume I am a "creep". But they ALL start off absolutely drawn to me, expressing intense desire.
Looks aren't everything people. In fact they almost aren't anything. (That is if you can't confidently engage.)

Agree 1000%, lost 80 pounds, built muscle, come back to small hometown from uni after 2 years... so many girls I knew sent me signs, signals, over a 3 week break I had on average 5 offers a week to fuck, i just had 0 game then (still poor game but working on it). What I found lead me to discover TRP, the 180 in their thoughts towards me, how much more pleasant they were etc but it's like they got PISSED because my game was poor. It's like an expectation in their heads that 'Oh he looks good so his game should be amazing' and when it's just average or below average you can fail pretty much instantly, the looks work against you. Clearest example I remember, go to club, see girl I used to go to highschool with, she wants to dance with me, do it for an hour or two 'Come back to mine to smoke' she asks. I reply with "I stopped smoking, better grades and also I gotta drop my friend home". She got so mad she yelled for her sister to come home with her and stormed out. I've noticed this before, I'm not drop dead gorgeous but girls challenge your game a lot more since losing weight I find, even the girls that used to like me treat me completely differently, get mad at jokes 'Why's it matter how you look I'm not dating you haha' was cool before, to 'get out of my house you jackass' now.
Sorry for ranting but It's so hard to describe this without sounding like a huge fucking douche or bragsplaining, whereas my anxiety to improve my game has gotten even worse cause now I feel like I'm basically at my end goal appearance wise, and it was the crutch I held onto saying to myself 'it will be so easy when you get in shape'. I find the game is easier to get in, harder to stay in with my new body, with my only course of game being to friendzone girls now and see which ones throw signals to be fuck buddies or something, because a lot of girls hate showing too much interest now (The amount of 'Oh my god she would have fucked me' I've experienced recently is staggering and depressing), whereas when I was overweight the ones who did like me would make it super obvious, it went from black and white to grey.

You just can't fake outcome independence. It's the key to confidence. If you love who you are, it will come. So if you've reached your goal in aesthetics and you still can't see your own value, it may be that there's something else that you need to get together.
Or it may be that you need to let go of the idea that changing things in your life will get you girls. There are plenty of dudes that aren't that good looking but with a RP mindset that is going to get them laid.

Yeah I know what I gotta do, it's a hamster but being bipolar type 2 has made it very annoying to find hobbies and passions that I truly enjoy and to stay confident all the time but since it's my life and I gotta deal with it i've tried to make the most out of it, e.g when im depressed i show it in my game and just act how I really feel: aloof and uninterested, and when I'm feeling good I show the supreme confidence and energy; it's a natural way for me to give them excitement and the emotions they crave, as I've had a lot of "You act so bipolar" statements but with a look of enticement from them. Trying to get better at it e.g not feeling anxious or that I will be seen as weird or eccentric when im manic, or too boring and dull when i am depressed. My main gripe is opening now, opening a new girl when I am depressed (most of the time) can be so hit/miss it's frustrating, but it's so forced to act NOT depressed, you start smiling and trying so hard to not look down that you can look strange in situations.

People can tell if you're forcing something. I know everybody tells you "fake it til you make it", but that's a load of shit. Stay in touch with how you really feel, express those emotions in a sincere manner, and I guarantee you will make more progress not just with women, but with everyone you interact with.
ie. If you're depressed, don't force yourself to act like you're not. Do what you have to do in life to NOT be depressed and then you won't have to worry about it. Until then, feel your feelings bro.

I don't have a lot of time to type right now but I have type 1, and I have very frequent switches between hypomania and depression.
Essesntially what I want to say is that it takes a weird mental finesse to control but when you are depressed and feel like a fucking flea or whatever don't try to emulate yourself as when you are hypomanic.
If you are in the midst of the depressive state, be sure to recognize it first of all, but stretch your body language only so far as to looking calm and focused. Do not try to be happy and boisterous because its very hard to do and uses a lot of fucking energy.
Likewise recognize when you find yourself in a hypomanic state and trim off the top so you do not become too eccentric. The confidence and attitude that can come from it is absolutely great and you should for sure try to throw that positivity you have around and use it. But, just be careful you aren't being too eccentric and easily excitable. Just try to "trim off the top", is the best way I can put it because it is so hard to describe the ephemeral aspects of the emotional swings bipolar disorder brings about.
Anyway, if you want to talk about some stuff as far as working with game and being bipolar PM me or something. It's something I have been dealing with and being quite seriously focused on for some time now in an effort to improve myself and would be glad to talk to you about how I deal with it all.
You can't fake it but you can set yourself up for success.

It's like when you are a kid and have a great story idea in your head so you can get away with all those corny lines in your head but don't actually take the time to write it well.
I'll just say that adverbs and adjectives are garbage for writing. Hemingway taught us this. The author should stop using so much of that and start using strong verbs to get his point across. This lends to the idea that actions speak louder than words: a very RP philosophy.
but I will upvote because the lesson overall is more important than the penmanship. The author must read more fiction than nonfiction to write like this.

The whole point of trying is to reap results; if you try to paint a beautiful portrait your whole life and fail you have done nothing but die disappointed and paintingless. The various men (with the exception of dickman and height man) likely try very hard at what they do and with a combination of innate ability and arduous labor reap the benefits. There's a reason why it's "get rich or die trying" and not just "die trying". The only exception I can make is for novices starting at something; this is a critical point at which you need motivation and encouragement. If you keep doing something however and are never seeing results it's likely time to examine what you're doing and how you're doing it

I made a post on a thread about "What's wrong with Beta Bux?" about the differences between Alphas and Betas, what defines them and why it matters. Only now did I get through reading this one, and I think my answer to that thread fits this one as well.
The first thing we have to mention is that TRP is amoral. There aren't any standard "rights" or "wrongs", hell, TRP advocates for three completely different sexual strategies (LTRs, plating and MGTOW) and all of them are fine. What we can mention, and do, is what makes someone's life better from a happiness standpoint. People who have lots of sex tend to be happier than people who don't, for example, and thus PUA theory is seen as "right", while beta orbiting is seen as "wrong". That's only an example, but that's the gist of it. Now onto the actual answer: The differences between Alphas and Betas are way more than simply "one is a hunk who gets girls because he can, while the other attracts them with his money". The world doesn't work like that. From a hooking up stand point - betas in general don't have casual sex, aside from girls with really low SMV that they fuck as a desperation lay. They don't have the charisma or character necessary to become a person with recognizable high value, and thus, girls don't recognize it, despite of any actual value being there or not. Alphas are sexually attractive, and Betas aren't. That makes it so that girls who are "beta provided" don't "give out" sex on a regular or even common basis. Sex will be rare, begged for and will have an increasing price, so instead of being a fun act between two willing people, it will be something that one of the parts begs for weeks on end to happen, and the other "allows it to happen" so that the Beta can breathe again for the following weeks. What this results in is passion-less, unfun, unmotivated and bad quality sex, that ends when the guy cums cause the girl is only waiting for him to finish. So both parts end up sexually frustrated (if the girl doesn't cheat on him) and the relationship has a power dynamic based on sex. And because of it, the women is the one completely dominating the relationship, which ends up with her losing respect for him (because culturally, men are supposed to lead sexually) and fucks up the relationship on many different levels. But let's go deeper than that. From a socialization stand point, Alphas lead, and Betas follow. That's the main difference really, aside from the sexual attractiveness differences. What this means is that Betas can't really be part of a real brotherhood with Alphas, and vice versa, as they won't be on equal footing. I'm an Alpha with pretty nerdy interests, for one, and people that share my interests are usually Betas. This means that, aside from maybe small exchanges of opinion, even things like an honest discussion about the state of our hobbie or the community it has will end up with him nodding away at all I say and merely expanding on it at most, even if he disagrees completely. And in the same way, a Beta wouldn't fit in with a group of Alphas because while they're all busy doing things they want to (be it as a group or not), he'll be following them around. If a Beta goes with a group of Alphas to a club, he'll eventually either stay behind while everyone else already has a hook up and/or ride home, or drag one of his closest friends from the group out of the fun as well. People who respect themselves and in groups with people who respect each other, generally don't have the greatest interactions with people spend more time pitying themselves for not being able to do what they want to than trying to do what they want to do. This can be seen occasionally in girls too, though they use it to protect themselves - if you want to get with the HB9 with the amazing ass, you sometimes have to get through their fat friends. I've asked this question before and I received the perfect answer:
The fact that you are going out and confidently approaching women sets you apart from most of the men out there. Whether you fuck a girl or she says no thanks is irrelevant. By approaching the bitches you have already succeeded.
and 3. You have a backwards way of thinking. You are relying on women in determining your happiness which is not good. Instead, your logic should be "I'm going to go up to the hottest girl in the bar and introduce myself and say predetermined joke.
After you do that, you have already succeeded no matter what her reaction is. I guarentee when you go home you will feel more satisfied with being rejected compared to not talking to women at all.
Or you could give your friend $200 and every girl you approach earns you $20 back.

This fable is only tangentially related to alpha/beta as it is supposed to be used in this sub.
Overcoming your fears and great and all, but it's not necessarily alpha or beta unless it triggers a fux or bux reaction in women.
I know some semi-narcissists who are full of actual insecurity and fears, yet they get laid like tile because they project an air of self-confidence that girls just lap up.
Yes, it is ultimately better for your life and for society if you draw your own sense of self-worth from accomplishments and the overcoming of your fears. However, it's not necessary for eliciting a response from females.

I'm not nitpicking but your story reads like a Disney fairytale. In reality success breeds success and failure breeds failure. When you fall once as in your story the picture still looks rosy but tell a guy who has been rejected hundreds of times over and over again that he's a winner for trying. Also people build confidence on their assets , talents, mother nature gifts etc... Even that RP crackhead tramp does seem to have unlimited confidence built on nothing. But when you look closer he has a lot of charisma and his confidence probably snowballed from past successes and the fact that his vision is clouded from his use of powerful narcotics, so failure doesn't seem to affect him.
In fact I also hate people saying that participating is more important than winning. No. Winning is more important than winning.

If you truly feel that way you must get to the point where the rubber meets the road. By that I mean get to the point of contentedness in your life where being rejected is merely being rejected, no need to add weight of thoughts about what that means about you (or your ego)
And you know what, you shouldnt because negative thoughts give way to destructive nature. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy that you will fail if you make women a prize (they arent) and you lose (which you arent). Youll think act and become more and more of a loser day by day. Failure is a state of mind, you choose to look at it that way, instead of a small victory or lesson learned.
Really though it all comes down to the fact that you think your not good enough. You dont do enough, your not ambitious or a go getter, you lack so much spine that women frighten you, you wouldn't know what to say because you still think what you say matters. And most importantly you dont approach enough because anyone who could approach hundreds of women has more balls than most men, and will eventually get a woman. I mean I've never in my life seen an actual approach in the daytime outside of a bar. And I live in LA

It seems like you're angry because life isn't the way you want it to be. Consider you are the problem and fix it. Over time as you go through your life with a optimistic mindset you will see more opportunities grow from your bad situations. If you improve yourself you will overcome obstacles you previously couldnt. This will lead to achievements and success... The things you said you need to be confident. Those are the results of a positive attitude. And the more and more you approach the easier it gets not harder, because you have experience to draw from. But only if you can recognize mistakes as experience.

That was fucking stupid, first of all some of the other men showed the ability to find a goal and accomplish it. (the rich guy and the string guy) secondly anyone can approach, approaching is simple and easy as fuck. Especially when you think you're going to fail, it's almost like those internet social experiment pranks. Just swallow your pride and blurt out some words even if you sound stupid and have no intent on finishing. The guy didn't even continue to pursue after she said she had a boyfriend so his intent couldn't have been that strong.

I like the overall moral of the story, that trying to get what you want in your own way is what it's all about. But there was just too many blatant references to pickup artistry to take it seriously. Plus I feel like TRP people would identify with the strong guy and the rich guy more than the dude who doesn't give a fuck.
