Women rights advocates and feminist types operate within a worldview in which all perceivable goods (respect, success, rights, etc) are given or withheld by "society" rather than earned or created by individuals. This is because fundamentally women are hard-wired as beneficiaries rather than conquerors. Which is great as long as feminism and the golden calf of gender equality is destroyed.

It hasn't always been this way, though. My mother, and her mother, made it their life's work to become the best human beings they possibly could. They were loved just as much, if not more, than their husbands. They did not act on an attitude of entitlement but an attitude of endless giving and service (arguably commensurate with their husbands professional careers with respect to effort exerted and respect earned). They seemed far happier than their daughters and granddaughters are.

Forgive the disconnected rambling. I am still working to digest and incorporate TRP.
