What the fuck is this bullshit hippy vegan stuff. Give me some tren and a fucking steak.
[–]landon0425 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
expected this to be the tren train

HHAHAHAh yea fucking seriously. Fuck this diet.
[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This looks like a nice little guide. Some notes:
Aside from that, I'd suggest taking a look at nootropics or meditation to supplement the physical side of it for those mental gainz. It's a good article!

Yeah, obviously diet is only one component of Monk Mode, but it is the most neglected. Liquid? Are you shitting me? The only thing liquid is the pom juice at 4oz and the V8 at 8oz. The rest of it is whole fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, rice, sprouted grains and oats. That is over 100 fucking grams of fiber. You'll shit one single solid log and won't have to wipe, this is not an exaggeration. (after a week adjustment, when you flood your body with fiber you will shit a lot, and it will be liquid). I would consider myself a skeptic in the highest order, when I research shit, I research shit. And heart disease, errectile dysfunction, eating out, and diabetes are pretty expensive too, just saying. Its about $125 a week if you buy in bulk and that includes the supplements.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Perfect for monk mode imagine all the time you will save from not having to wipe.

2 cloves of raw garlic as a dinner appetizer LOL this is rich. One single Brazil nut.
The fuck is wrong with this guy. I cannot believe it
[–]CrownChief1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You need the brazil nut for selenium, its important for your thyroid. And the garlic is to get another variety of the allium family, its important for your heart.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
yeah brazil nuts have tons of selenium and one will give you enough!

Let me know if you maintain this overly complex diet for longer than a week. I have a weekly diet where I make sure I eat all my foods over the course of the week. 3900 calories, tons of proteins, costs me about $100 a week in an expensive city. I can post if you'd like. Its far easier to follow then this diet and more varied

Please do if you have it available

BCAAs
Now hold up, BCAA's are only useful for people who train fasted in the morning.
[–]CrownChief0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The BCAAs are useful to take during workouts for people in fasted states, but my own anecdotal evidence seems to think they helped me a lot with my DOMs. So the BCAAs are the most unnecessary thing in this diet. I just do it personally, I should have added that note, my bad.
[–]evilcatnap4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Some of the comments in this thread are retarded. This is fucking on point. I like my steak/fish/chicken so I may change things. But definitely plan on using this. Good job.
[–]keepfreshalive2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I get this same ignorant bullshit from my family. It's infuriating. If you want to live a high-level existence - eat like this guy suggests. Have a fucking kale leaf some time. Eat real, whole foods. This shit will kick you out of ZOMBIE MODE and keep you WOKE. Not to mention, you live a longer, higher-quality life every second of your existence.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
When I was on a vegan diet in Thailand due to lack of quality meat options, tofu (contrary to popular belief it won't make you grow manboobs), rice and veggies were my staple food and I got ripped as fuck. I'm a hard gainer though, so your mileage regarding rice may vary, as it makes some people gain fat.
[–]gocollin1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Your post is bad and you should feel bad.
[–]punkrock_1011 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
There is absolutely zero way your diet contains 140g of protein. Let's get real, you can mess around with all your vegan hippy foods all you like but we want protein - it is VERY important. You obviously know this too as you saw the value in lying about the number.
Where does the 140g come from?
The only protein "sources" you have mentioned are one scoop of your protein powder, one cup of nuts and some residual bean protein. 140g? nowhere close - spreading some peanut butter on toast isn't going to save you either.
If we are being honest this is terrible advice to be giving to people who realistically just need to nail the basics of gaining muscle: lift heavy and eat enough protein rich foods.
[–]CrownChief1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
From myfitnesspal.com: The 4th number is the protein. The first 3 numbers are calories, carbs, fat. Last two are sodium and sugar. Totals to 140g.

Fair enough, I stand corrected- Not eating meat/ dairy is a surefire way to make it harder for yourself. Do you worry about the whole "complete protein" issue?
[–]CrownChief3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No because I complete my bean protein with the rice protein, not to mention the BCAAs.
[–]InSunlightWeBelong0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
All these supplements and so many ingredients sounds like a lot of effort, but if it works for OP I'm not complaining.

Nice to see someone thinking outside the box on TRP.
Consider taking an algae oil capsule instead of the fish oil. Fish don't naturally produce DHA or EPA, they get it from algae. Also fish products tend to contain inconvenient amounts of mercury. Algae oil doesn't.
Also, if you want to be totally Monk-mode with regards to food and save time, consider a 'soylent' product. They're mostly veggie, hit every nutritional requirement and require almost zero food prep time. https://www.blendrunner.com/?carbs-from=0&carbs-to=400&proteins-from=0&proteins-to=208&fats-from=0&fats-to=181&energy-from=0&energy-to=3000&fibre-from=0&fibre-to=81&shipping%5B%5D=us&allergens%5B%5D=7

Great diet, ignore the haters. Obviously a lot of thought have been put into it. You say you're an ectomorph - I'm curious how you can stomach all the whole foods and extremely filling vegetables. Pretty sure I would get full after 1 cup of broccoli and 1 cup of sweet potatoes. Also, how long did it take you to adjust to the taste?
I'm also curious why no healthy oils.
[–]CrownChief0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Took 6 weeks to adjust to taste and then it was easy street, no more cravings for meat/cheese or icecream. Digestion and ability to stuff took 1 to 2 weeks adjustment. I had olive oil, but its a lot of empty calories and for what? Saturated fat? Not worth it. There is a shit ton of vitamin e in the diet (peanut butter), that is where you get the skin benefits.

This looks interesting, looking for a new diet (Xmas gainz).
What changes would you make to this to:
workout in the eve
add in salmon and chicken/turkey
add the salmon and the turkey in the post workout meal. Check this out for workout/eating plan: http://www.leangains.com/2010/04/leangains-guide.html
I've no upgraded this diet to 2.0 to incorporate a intermittent fasting routine, that is in 3 large meals. I will be posting it along with other info for different aspects of Monk Mode shortly.

Where is your fish? Your meat? You can hit your daily protein needs by eating just nuts and soy, but meat absolutely rapes soybeans in regards to muscle growth and recovery. If you're rebuilding a Ford truck, you can use parts from a motorboat or a motorcycle, but why would you do that when you can use parts from another Ford truck?
Look, I'm sure you did your research and you're covering all your macro/micro nutrients, but the best diet is when you eat a variety of healthy foods every day, not some bland super-diet.
[–]CrownChief1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I don't have any soy products. Its 140 grams of protein, all plant based, and yes, they are complete proteins. You don't need meat and fish, it is unnecessary.
[–]Senior Endorsed ContributorFieldLine1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I don't have any soy products.
Okay. You can hit your daily protein needs by eating just nuts and soy, but meat absolutely rapes nuts in regards to muscle growth and recovery.
I thought you were smart enough to extrapolate. My bad.
You don't need meat and fish, it is unnecessary.
This is wrong. What does your physique look like? Can you deadlift three plates? If not, you shouldn't be offering diet advice, especially when it goes against decades of bodybuilding research.

The strongest guy in the world 4 years ago was vegan. Elephants are fucking big. How do they get big? Nutrients. From? You guessed it, plants. We eat meat because animals eat shit tons of soy and corn, and then we filter those nutrients into us.
With intermettient fasting and two years of extensive weight training I've gone from 6'2", 151 lbs to 191 lbs. I would say I've put on almost 30 lbs of lean muscle. I've put 6" on my shoulders (full circumference). I'm an extreme ectomorph (hard gainer) so I was about as weak as it gets. I'm not competing for the Olympics, but I do look better naked and feel like a million bucks.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
God you're a moron. Elephants are big! Eat what Elephants eat! Except you're not a fucking elephant. You're not an elephant, a gorilla, a lion, or anything else. You're a human. Using what an animal eats as justification is fucking retarded.
And we eat meat, because we can and it works. Soy and corn pumped into them? That's a modern thing, and many of us avoid them. We eat meat because it delivers all the essential amino acids. But it's not just that, it also provides other amines that are impossible to get from plant sources. Offal is more nutrient dense than any vegetable. If you want to be a vegan, you do you. But get off your high-horse, food chain denier.
I haven't said anything vegan, you mother fuckers brought that shit up. I brought up the elephant and the vegan strongman to prove that meat and fish based sources are not required for protein synthesis and muscle growth. Protein is protein, and if you read the full diet I added in BCAAs. Soy is bad it causes your estrogen to go up. I've zero soy in my diet. But, you eat soy all the time, since you eat animals, because that is where they get their fucking protein and amino acids. We aren't necessarily biological wired to digest meat. We found a way to hack nature, like with agriculture, by cooking it. And that is fine whatever, and you can get your nutrients from it, thats fine. I'm just saying its not necessary for protein sources, synthesis, and muscle growth.

Where would you add the hemp seeds? Also could they be steamed to be like a rice substitute? I like it's cus-cus millet type texture.
Just replace the pumpkin seeds with the hemp seeds.

isn't 5000 UI of D3 too much? D3 is a vitamin and we need it but only in small doses, it is toxic too just like any substance.
[–]CrownChief2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No its fine. You have to take a shit ton to over do it with D3, like 20k plus. You don't need it with 15-20 mins of direct sun exposure.
It's not bad don't worry there are people who take a lot more and are fine! plus you don't absorb 100% of it
[–]traveldeedee-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Your diet is healthy, but uh.. I eat hot dogs and pizzas after workout, and still see gains and feel like a champ. I supplement with some apples, drink plenty of water, and that's it.
Nuts have too much fiber, make me fart.
By the way if you want sharp focus, swallow a quarter pill of Adderall with a shot of straight espresso. Shit's going to dial you in for a good 8 hour straight. Great for learning.
[–]Senior Endorsed ContributorFieldLine1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
"Quarter pill of Adderall" isn't helpful without a dosage. You can get tablets that are 5 mg, others that are 20.
In any case, Adderall kills your appetite and sleep patterns, and has strong potential for physical addiction. I use it occasionally for those days that require extreme focus, but definitely wouldn't encourage long term use. Not to mention the fact that I feel like shit while on it and after.
Even modafinil, which is highly recommended in self improvement articles, isn't ideal. All of these drugs short circuit your body's needs - ultimately, you need to eat and you need to sleep. If you're running on very little sleep one day, for whatever reason, and you need to function on a high cognitive level, then sure, take 100 mg of modafinil. That's what it's for. What you shouldn't be doing is regularly bypassing your body's needs by taking stimulants.
[–]Herpnderp1450 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Wouldn't Ginkgo Biloba supplement take care of that?
[–]dammit_redskins0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Fun fact, caffeine utilizes some of the same receptors in the brain as adderall, and actually decreases adderall's effectiveness.
I bet you are in your 20s, tell me how you feel a couple decades from now. Pre-soaking the beans and activating the nuts solved the gas issue for me: https://www.movenourishbelieve.com/nourish/everything-you-need-to-know-about-activating-nuts/
[–]Mars8-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Dude, for pre workout you need carbs with fiber(slow digestion) and some protein. I usually mix half a serving of Kashi go lean with half a serving of speshial k(10g protein-6g fiber-40g carbs-about 180 cals with almond milk) and a orange, you can also have eggs, yogurt, grits, oats and other stuff similar. You need that slow digestion to provide you with constant energy through out your workout. Juice is great for post because all that sugar will cause an insulin spike(helps with nutrient delivery) and replenish glycogen levels.
[–]CrownChief0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The juice is for the nitrates and I workout fine on practically an empty stomach.
[–]Mars80 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If it works, that's great. I was just commenting based on my experience, I can't get the same pump or energy on a empty stomache. Especially when I'm cutting and my energy is lower then norm to begin with
This diet gives you insane energy 24/7.
