So I've not seen a romantic comedy in a long time, but the other day I caught part of one as a friend was watching it. I'm lucky she was heavily invested in it because I was finding it very uncomfortable to watch. Simply because the main Male character was so... Inconsistent.

In Romantic comedies the main character shows signs of being an Alpha (Generalization for arguments sake, some are wimps). Good looking, confident, distant, well-presented, subtle. Yet they also send cute morning messages, flounder under the main Females gaze, send gifts, talk about being love and other stuff that simply drives girls off in real life.

Yet in the RomCom the girl needs the guy so badly, everything revolves around him and

The opposite happens whenever I see or hear something about Anime. For some reason the Males are pathetic, whiny, childish, completely lacking in confidence. Yet for some bizarre reason almost EVERY female character seems destined to fall for the overly loud and annoying main character because occasionally ~He does something badass~

So in Anime the opposite is true, but the negative influence is still there.

RomComs the guy starts off manly but BluePills it up as he gets committed.

Anime the main character is a loser 23/7, 1 hour dedicated to not being a total embarrassment to mankind.

Just something I was thinking about, would like other people's thoughts on this.
