What's interesting in this case is that she can't meet her basic needs because she only works 2 days a week and has squandered her finances.

She now gets £18k / yr ($23k) from him specifically because she fucked up. This is on top of the £230K ($300K) settlement she received upon their divorce.

They were only married 13 years, and you can bet she put fuck all in then too.

The only time getting married is a good idea is if it happens in a non feministic country - there are still plenty of those if you know where to look for. In uk and scandinavia the situation is so bad there are illegal services where you pay to fuck someone and then get 'her' kid to be yours when she puts it up for adoption or something through the legal shit state services. I can't even imagine getting married after living with my ex for 5 months. Hamstered her way into justifying quitting her job and sitting at my apartment all day, not cleaning, cooking, or paying for anything.
