The reason? It actually purports to explain too much, which is typically the mark of a theory that either doesn't actually explain anything at all, or explains itself out of existence.

For example, take the radical Christian Satan planted the fossils theory...if Satan is that powerful, couldn't he fake Christianity itself? Similarly, if the Patriarchy is so all-encompassing and powerful...how do you know that Twitter, Tumblr, and Jezebel aren't Shitlord-created conspiracies to entice strong womyn into internet slacktivism so the oppression can continue? The theory is so powerful that it explains itself out of existence and can be rejected out of hand.
